I was quite interested when reading this article a few months back :

https://singletrackmag.com/forum/news-comments/day-15-tailfin-bar-bag-system/#post-13489563

Pricey for sure, but looks a clever neat setup, and doesn't squash the brake hoses etc.  Wondering if anyone has used them for gravel bikepacking and what the views are, before I maybe press the buy button ?

Might be worth a read of this thread: https://singletrackmag.com/forum/bike-forum/bike-packing-seat-pack-dropper-options/

I started looking at the Tailfin, but seems to be good options for a lot less outlay (especially if you already have the seat post bag). I've still not decided between a rack type solution or hanging the bag off the dropper post. Haven't found time to experiment yet but hope to do so this week.

I have a Tailfin Aeropack that I use on my hard tail mtb and gravel bike. It's expensive but very well made, sturdy and solid. It is a great bit of kit and I have no regrets buying it (4 years ago when there weren't many alternatives of the same quility). However, the bar bag is, I think, too expensive for what it is*.

I have a Blackburn Outpost HB bar bag that is a similar, but cruder design to the Tailfin. It keeps the harness and bag away from cables and hoses and is nice and stable in use. It is also a lot cheaper at around £60. The only thing to consider when using it on a gravel bike is the bar width and if it will fit between the drops.

Another option is to use a bar-mounted rack like the Jack the Rack and a normal bar bag. I used one with a Restrap Bar Pack for a ride across Normandy last summer and it was perfect. Nice and stable, kept the bag away from the cables and hoses and (obviously) makes a handy rack on its own.**

(*Having said that I will probably end up buying one eventually as I really like Tailfin kit. 😀 )

(**I have too much stuff!!!)

I have a Tailfin bar bag that I won in the Xmas competition. Not mounted it on my gravel bike yet (weather!) but it really does look to be a decent bit of kit. Was thinking for the money I would just sell it on and buy something cheaper, but I think it is so nice I will keep it and use it.

Rixen and Kaul do a vario sport front rack that uses the klickfix mount so very flexible/ easy to change with a smaller bar bag.
