Hello,

I have been doing a few rides with my 3year old using a secondhand gator trailer which allows his frog bike to be connected to my bike. The seat posts clamps etc are hard work to fit and remove and needs to be slid on so can’t change between mind and wife’s bikes with internal droppers easily.

Is this the best/only thing on the market?

Thanks

We had a cheap tagalong donated and I found it dreadful. The trailgater is much better and both needed the clamp threaded over the seatpost and awkward attachment.

Follow me tandem gets good reviews as does Burley Piccolo but both £££.

Kiddyback tandem is great but a lot of faff to transport so we often just take the trailgater. You also can't put the tandem on the train for one way trips.

Some reviews on cycle sprog:

Our tag along was transformed by using a few plastic shims on the clamp and pivots - it actually sat upright, not at an angle. I used a cut up ice-cream tub for the shims.

I also used old seatpost and saddle, leaving it clamped to the tag along. Quicker to slot that in that have to do bolts each time.

Great thanks. Think I will try and get a new bracket made up that can be loved between bikes without taking seat post out.

My youngest still has problems with balance so really a tag along or tandem is our only option. Not used my ebike for ages so decided to convert it to a prime mover for the tag along. Works brilliant. At an (admittedly small) 13 years though it is really too small for him but 24” ones seem hard to come by. Put some brass bushes in the pivot and it’s been mint since!

I had a piccolo on the tandem and it was very good. I’ve also had an Adams trail-a-bike and to be honest it wasn’t much different. The cost difference was 3x. I sold the burley on here years ago and the Adams was my sisters.

FollowMe is a more robust set-up but has the cost and heft to match.

I like the followme (bought one a couple of weeks back from bikediscount.de for £200) because it means that the littl’un can decouple and ride solo for a bit and then hitch a ride when tired
