Good Morning All after speaking with dealer I have been advised that my Syncros XR1.5 Wheels have DT Swiss 240 Hubs (Internals) and the rear has a 36 Ratchet System.

Its still early days for me with this bike but like the idea of more engagement for a cost about £70 which does not seem to expensive.

1. Can anyone advise if they have done such upgrade and real world benefits
2. Is there a noticeable increase in maintenance, I currently have 36 Teeth
3. If you had the option would you do it

As always look forward to your advice.

Thanks

Hi I have done this to my M1700 Dt swiss wheels and it makes a big difference esp if you come from Chris king or Hope hubs like I had.
Maintence wise its easy to do u can pull the freehub off with the cassette attached clean the and regrease, you get pot of grease with the kit.

I noticed the change from 18t to 36t but don't notice a difference between the 36t and my Hope Pro4's.

Supposed to make them more fragile.... and £70 seems quite expensive to me...
I suppose if you do lots of ‘ratcheting’ up techy climbs it could make all the difference and if you did strip the teeth then you have the old ratchet to go back to....
Myself personally I’d not (and haven’t) bothered.

I have one set of wheels with the 36T ratchet & the other with a 54T. I can't tell the difference 🙂

I went from 18t to 54t. Great upgrade and very noticeable.
My other wheels are low 30s and I do notice a small difference between those and the 54t DT Swiss. Especially in twisty sections where I ratchet from one crank to the other, doing half crank turns. Or rocky stuff where the faster engagement is noticeable.
CAnt comment on maintenance because I’ve only had the upgrade a couple of months.
