I want to ride some different places on a road trip this year. What ski lift resorts/locations can you recommend? I've ridden Verbier bike park and trails in the past. I'm aiming to go to several and spend a day at each, so ideally places that are easy to self navigate and ideally sign posted or bike park. What can you recommend? Thanks!
I've ridden in Klosters/Davos in the past having caught the train there from Zurich airport. There's some bike parks, some big loops and it's very quiet compared to the likes of Verbier. Also, many of the hotels include a lift pass and public transport (you can use the train to really open up the area you can ride in) with the room fee in the summer. It's free and includes free access to things like the leisure centre, which has a thermal pool to soothe your legs in). You could cover two or three different resorts in the area in a week.

If you book at a bike hotel, the bike goes free everywhere too (I didn't stay in one of these and paid for the bike when I used the train, which was 50% of an adult fare).

You do pay for the funicular railways on some of the mountains, but I was there for a week and never felt the need to use them.

Bike Kingdom in Lenzerheide is another option. Train from Zurich also. Its a big area and well serviced with gondola/lift/postauto.
Some bigger mountain days there. Drop in and check Flumserberg on the way.

Some good riding east of Verbier all along the Valais valley, Crans-Montana, Zermatt, Aletsch Arena. All areas the EWS have visited over the years. Trail-Hub is a good online resource for investigating areas. www.Trail-Hub.com
We love Verbier and the surrounding hills. So many options and even staying on the campsite gets you a voucher making the lift half price so it’s not expensive, until you go shopping,
+1 for Lenzerheide
Had a week there a few years ago, and would love to go back. Some really nice big mountain riding and a few bikeparks all within a short drive.
There’s a lot at Verbier out of the bike park, we’ve had a couple of excellent trips there.
Crans Montana is worth a day or 2, including a couple of variations of Tieche. Can dig you out details of what we did last year.
Leukerbad is also worth a day if you’re at Crans as it’s just down the road.
We rode from Crans down to nearly Leukerbad and then got the funicular back up.
Just for awareness, depending on when your travelling. But also maybe some ideas.
I think that getting the Bernina Express to the top of the pass and riding back down would be a great day out in either direction.

Which campsite? I couldn't find one anywhere near Verbier....can you share please
Nothing new to add, but uplift assisted single track in Davos, Klosters, Lenzerheide, Arosa, Flims, Laxx - all bloody fantastic

The campsite just further along the valley from Le Chable was shut last summer due to a landslide, not sure if it’s back open this year?
If you’re in a camper van you can stay in the Le Chable car park for I think 10 CHF and that gets you the VIP pass with 50% off.
Our friends paid for the camper parking without actually staying there just to use the discount.
With the VIP pass you also get free use of the Chable-Verbier gondola and the first one up the other side. Technically pedestrian access only but we took the bikes on it a few times.

Good info, thanks!
I'd missed Flims-Laxx. Lots to do there.

There's one listed here just along the valley from Le Chable, not far from the bottom of Vertigo (I think)...

Thanks for all the advice. I've worked out a plan which is to stay in the Aletsch arena area for two days to try to tick off the ride to view the glacier and then 4 days staying in Lenzerheide as a base, with the intention to do atleast one day in Davos or maybe Laax. Any thoughts?
I havent checked this year's Lenzerheide map yet, but I enjoyed the enduro trails in the area more than the bike park. In the park you've got the World Cup course, a similar red and then a few bmx style 'flow' trails. If the Rothorn lift is open, I definitely recommend going up there (for the view!) and then taking the long valley trail to Arosa, then riding there as well. Just make sure you are in time for the dangle bus back over to the Lenzerheide side. Last year there was a pretty good and slabby trail back down to the top of the bike park (and then a footpath I preferred from the snow reservoir just north of the bike park lift).
The xc course in the park is OK too, depending on the bike you have. If you time it right, get a ticket for the demo days they sometimes have. Last year it was only CHF10 for unlimited bike hire for a couple of days.
We are thinking of Davos too this year, but currently I'm a bit confused about the lift price. A few years ago they were virtually free if you booked accommodation in Davos. But it seems to be increasing every year since. I prefer to stay in Davos Dorf, so you're near the funi and the lake (on the way to Klosters).
Not been to Laax or Flims yet, also in the plan for this year possibly.
