My daughter has just learnt to ride on her lovely, spotty, Frog 48 but after a few spectacular over the bars incidents it is appears she would be more confident and comfortable on a sit up and beg style bike. Her friend has a mini shopper type bike with high 'Mary' / easy rider shaped bars and she much preferred this to the mini mtb position of the Frog. Is there a stem and steerer combo out there to convert a child's bike?

It might be a child's bike in size, but it uses 'grown-up' components.

You can fit any standard 1-1/8" aheadset stem. So you can fit something like this:

And then replace the stock flat bars with some narrow riser bars. You won't find many new riser bars for sale that are as narrow as those fitted to a 48, so you might want to get some cheap/2nd hand and cut them down.

I'm surprised to hear someone's going over the bars on such a long and low bike (my son has the same and he looks very safe on it compared to previous cheap kids bikes). Good luck 🙂

Thanks - that could work as I have some old narrow ea70 bars at the back of the shed!. I guess it could also just mean that the bike is now too small for her or she has inherited my cornering prowess.
