Hi guys,

Anyone used the company Switch-backs before for a mountain bike holiday? They offer accommodation/guiding in Bubion, Spain throughout the year, buddy and I are considering using them next year.

http://switch-backs.com/enduro/

Would appreciate feedback before we firm up a weeks riding with them.

Cheers,
Tim

Not used switchbacks but can highly recommend ciclo-montana and in a similar area.

Yep, I used Switchbacks a few years ago. A fantastic time was had.

Fell off Lemmings though - a real 'life before your eyes' moment that!

I've been with ciclo and switchbacks. Both great. The trails you ride overlap about 40% I'd say. You'll do a bit more climbing with ciclo, switchbacks have a bit more uplift and slightly more DH oriented guides when I went (James McKnight was our guide). Ciclo has some great lunch stops and nicer accommodation in my opinion. Both great though, and I'd happily go to either again

We have been with switch-backs a number of times over the years. The riding has always been good and the accommodation great. Tapas in the village is amazing and got bigger and more interesting with each round of drinks ordered. The technical level of the trails we rode was towards the middle of the ones ridden elsewhere but some are nicely vertigo inducing. Perhaps not as friendly/welcoming as others but still a good bunch to be leading you along canyon edges. I would go again without much hesitation.

not sure what the etiquette is regarding reviewing companies, dont want to pee anyone off, but SB were pretty disorganised when we went. The riding in the area was top notch (Bubion), but if we went again we would go with "the other" company.

Having said that, i know of lots of people who really rate SB, so guess it depends on your expectations, and what mood you are in (and what mood your guide is in).

We did still have a wicked time, at the end of the day they show you the good stuff and you get to ride your bike down it.

Ciclo also gets my vote too.
I'm not sure how they do it for the money.
I'll be there in two weeks time.
Marco has promised me that the Swedish ladies netball team will be there that week...

Been with switch backs for the last 3 years and love the riding and the village you stay in.
How good the group is your with is down to luck obviously but as others have said mike is very flaky and that's being kind. You get used to it but it drives some people mad and I just wish he would maybe raise the price a bit and put bog roll and gas in the house or some bits of food as the web site promised.
Our coffee/ham/bog roll turned up on the last of 4 days... It's no big deal but just a bit annoying.
