You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I went over to swinley a few weeks back and all the dh trails (babymaker, Deerstalker etc) were closed off.
Anyone know if this is still the case?
I generally park on the bagshot side and ride in. Do a few laps of the dh bits and labrinyth and shoot off home. Dont want another possible wasted journey this weekend.
Cheers in advance.
Yep, still closed.
Edit: for some raisin the diversion sign is at the top of *that* bloody climb :/
Trail maintenence I presume?
Due to be 3-4 weeks from 30th April.
They're trying to make sure the riding is at least as good once the forestry work is finished. Just thinning trees, not clearing the lot, so trails should be unharmed.
If you do the FB thing, look here:Â
Thanks for info

Its good to get currant news of trail maintenance 😀
I went over there today. I took great pleasure in sitting on the bench at the top of the hill, and telling people it was shut, once they had got to the top😀

Clearly, you couldn't give a fig.
The tree thinning around that area is the first stage of an improvement and development plan, apparently.
One can only hope this is done with more thought than the destruction of Jump Gully or the unfinished/abandoned Bike Park area near The Look Out.
The tree thinning
Prun(e)ing?
Prun(e)ing?
Yes, some of it needs really Pear-ing back

Only one way to be sure - get involved...
The Bike Hub are quite good at pushing out news on their FB site:
Trail Engaged - I have tried adding the slide deck but it is just too hard to read - so in brief, working with the CE we have gained agreement every year to have a clear and consistent strategy for riders to include:
1. Addition of some Technical Trail Features to an existing section of trail. This year this includes adding some qualifying drops near the start of Red, and before riders get to the drops on Red 8.
2. Create, where permitting, one parallel line to existing favourites - in 2018, this will be Red 15.Additional lines will add progression for riders to ejoy, session, and re-join the waymarked loop
3. Series of volunteer days, we will pushout comms, as will all other volunteer groups wishing to take part - this includes TTSThis year we have a special sanction to adopt and adapt the trails around the Red 20 area - further details will be pushed out on this from the working party across forums, expect spades in ground Q3. The clubhouse area will be thinned in a few weeks, which will take up to 4 weeks so please help us by not accessing this area when machines are in. We are working with the machine operators to safeguard the trails as much as possible during the thinning.....it gives us some nice space after they leave so its worth it!
Way marked trail updates will now be incremental with trail work happening weekly on low level maintenance. There are some further jobs which require machines which CE will provide - areas include Blue 3, 4, 10, 14, 16, 18 Red 2, 8, 15, 25. This work (weather permitting) will happen between April and June.
At SBH we are keen riders feedback little and often, so a new SBH site is coming in the next few weeks, on this site we have integrated the Trailforks app, and added a feedback form for the trails so if you see anything on the trails you feel needs flagging then you have 2 options to get it fed back and on to a list to get looked at!
Cheers - we will shout out when the waymarked trail work is beginning so everyone is aware of work & diversions, and once completed we will be firing out some dates on volunteer needs and dates for you to get involved - this will include waymarked trails and the Red 20 trails

There was a sign at the bottom as you exit the short climb on the official route, someone turned it around pointing up "that" bloody climb... if you go about 10' down there is/was a sign pointing down.
Y'know you can always try turning right at the top of that incy-wincy slope-ette
The forestry work has made mincemeat of some areas
Sorry to hijack thread - staying down south end of week/ start of next. Not ridden swinley in about 18yrs - is there much closed or is it worth the trip round from Romford? Fancy revisiting it but not if loads closed. Cheers, Niall
