Pricing up a new GX cassette, it looks like the NX cassette is half the price. Given I won't miss the 10-tooth cog on the GX, I could get a Hope freehub body and the NX cassette for the same price as a GX cassette. Has anyone swapped to NX and lived to tell the tale?
Is it for 11 or 12 speed? You can get 12 speed ones for XD freehubs that are steel apart from the 50t cog from Aliexpress for not much money these days.
Overall if it's the same price, you're paying to add weight to your bike.
450g for GX
615g for NX
It's a no from me.
Sorry I can't comment as I didn't survive.
I'm running a 12s NX because that's what came with my bike. It shifts fine* and I'd have no worries about it being 165g heavier- I can take an extra wee before I ride to get rid of that sort of weight.
You'll only be paying for the freehub once so might be cheaper in the long run if the NX lasts as long as the GX.
*caveat, it shifts fine now I've replaced the SX shifter and mech with XT.
Why would you do that? You're basically paying the same money to add weight to your bike and have less of a gear range? And adding additional faff into the equation... seems very odd thinking! Just get GX and ride!
