Anyone know this stretch? Is it OK for road bikes/road tyres?

We've got a bit of an organised ride in a few weeks and this looks a good option to avoid a chunk of road, but mild concerns over whether it turns into gravel/mud/rocks/shark infested waters.

I've never done that section..... But living in the area and knowing what the upkeep of the trails are like around here I personally would give it a miss on road tyres..... I know a few that do it on gravel bikes with no problem but I think road tyres would be a bit of a risk.

I sometimes ride in that area as I have a client there and would echo ifindoubtflatout's comments. I always use a gravel bike without any issues but I'd probably not risk it on road tyres. The tracks are in theory fine until you suddenly realise you are riding through broken glass etc.

Thanks both - that's useful info. Streetview isn't much help on car-free routes.

There's not many bridalways around that area as well.....and the roads aren't much better to be honest. Most of the roadies ride DH bikes around here. 😂

I ride on those routes regularly and not sure road tyres would be up to it. I run some 40c cx tyres on my commuter and they are fine. Some of the route is better than the roads round here.

We'll be on road bikes - Lincoln to Leeds, day 3 of a charity ride - so sounds like we'll need to stick to the (rubbish) roads.
