A friend has asked for.spme advice on suspension Seatpost for his hardtail. He just wants a smoother ride for his back and bum and doesn't ride anything extreme. Does anyone have any real world experience of these things as I don't. Looking.to give him.some.advice so he doesn't male.an expensive mistake..Cheers.
I have a USE VYBE suspension seat post for my commuter which makes potholes comfortable and an all round serene experience
The description in the link below makes it sound robust enough for mountain biking too
For me the design is slim, works well and is affordable when compression to the Cane Creek thudbuster
Vybe here as well.
If only they made one in 26.8 ?
I've got 2 XLC posts: 1 on my hardtail and 1 on my gravel bike. I've had 1 on the hardtail for 3 years now. I like them. They take the sting out of trails and rough ground in those times when you're not out the saddle in the attack position, bombing downhill.
They take a bit of fiddling around to set the preload correctly or get the right spring for your bodyweight.
For £30ish, they are worth a try if you're curious about them. When I upgrade my rigid bikes, I'll upgrade the suspension posts to Redshift and PNW's suspension dropper.
I’ve got a Cane Creek Thudbuster ST on my gravel bike and it’s great. Takes out a lot of the low level chatter and kind of feels like you’re running a bigger, softer rear tyre.
Another Vybe here. I genuinely love it and aching lower back pain after a ride is a thing of the past
Redshift one here, I like it and it's not too bobby on smooth surfaces.
I had the suntour (fake thudbuster) one for years. Worked flawlessly and cheaper than the alternative ones
Thanks everyone, I will pass on the info. And just reading back, what a significant amount of typos in my original post FFS!
Anyone tried the pnw dropper with suspension
@ grahamt180 yes I’ve got one and it works a treat.
Totally unremarkable but in a good way.

COAST SUSPENSION DROPPER POST
I came here to recommend this post. I've got one on both hardtails. Takes a few rides to settle in, but it really makes a difference. It's not full suss levels of comfort, but it means you can sit and peddle on bits you'd normally stand up for.
The only person I know who has one on his mountain bike destroyed his brand new rear rim when he was sat on it going down a bridle path. Admittedly he did have lightweight tyres on as well.
There’s a reason that they’re not OEM on mountain bikes whereas dropper posts are IMV.

I think I've got a 25.0 SUMO head older version sat doing nothing. not sure what the spring rate it in it though. pretty much new. Shim it up to 26.8 easily using one of USE's shims. PM if you're interested and I'll get more info.
I have one of these and it knocks the PNW Coast I previously had out of the park: KS Rage-iS Dropper Suspension Seatpost
