You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Thought y’all might be interested in a long day out in Surrey. This is the first time that an event has been put together that allows you to circuit every bit of Surrey’s finest riding areas and it’s not for the faint hearted! There are some reduced routes if your fitness levels aren’t what you’d like them to be.....but check it out here:

I'm going to be the first with... HOW much !!!
£48 for the event and £25 for a BBQ....
Considering the quality of MTBing in surrey hills i got quite excited at the title....
then found it's a roadie/gravel ride and my disappointment came out.

it’s Surrey old Chap! 😎
As for the gravelly route, it’s a long way....you’d never do it if it included gnarly trails everywhere. More of a scenic journey than a Trail Centre outing.
Yeah i get that... but just thought it would be something very different to what it ended up as being. That's not a downside, but of course it is to me.
If only we knew someone who knew the area really well that could guide an STW ride.... 😉
Apparently the route has gravel bike detours to avoid classic descents such as BKB and Summer Lightning, and very little tarmac involved. If you don't know Surrey, its a great opportunity to see a massive diversity of riding and scenery.

Always happy to take you for a tour, S!
I live 'round the corner from the vineyard, so I'm interested to see how this pans out. I may even enter, since I had to bin a gravel event last year. The route certainly sounds interesting.
Box Hill is currently heaving most weekends, so I'm guessing a trip up the Roman Road across the NT carpark and down Happy Valley (Not saying that's the route, but that would be a logical use of the main bridleways) could be a fun access exercise: it crosses the zig zags at the bottom and top and then crosses the main honeypot area on the hill. Any idea how that bit will be managed?
Sounds interesting . More so to get hold of the actual route itself . Imagine they will have to limit numbers as could be very popular .
More likely up the flinty path next to the zigzags (killer start!) and across the top and descend to whitehill carpark (Think thats what its called) and then to head up and over Mickleham Downs and down the Alsation towards Leatherhead, through Thorncroft Manor and over Young Street and then Westward HO!
It's a gravel route that uses bridleways and misses out on the best local MTB trails. Even the closest MTB trail to the start, a well known one that heads down from Ranmore to Denbies (Red White and Rose) can't be used since it's "cheeky". So a good day out for gravel riders. I'll stick to the trails or the roads.

I did a 180km Surrey hills MTB day out last summer for a friends birthday. We did all the well known Hurtwood trails, lots of the North Downs stuff, and the Leith off-piste. It was absolutely fantastic, but did end up taking the best part of 12 hours. If anyone wants to join for this years edition (190km) let me know!

That’s good going. I think our longest was something like 75 on the longest day- up to see the sun rise then go for what would normally be a night ride before dropping off the people who had to work. The rest of us had breakfast and then did an anti-clockwise lap of north downs, blackheath and the Surrey hills picking up trails along the way. Getting slower as we went!
Really looking forward to something like that this year.
75 miles!
