Good fun, many thanks gents. I remain surprised that we managed to organise something in so little time!

Longer ride required after Xmas!

cheers gents for the ride today and thanks for being patient and waiting whilst I got in position with the camera.

Here's the ride report and pics (note, there's a flash viewer with 28 pics that you won't see on an apple device)

It was quite confusing, apart from Steve, N & me, everyone else seemed to be called Rich or [gc]az.

Fewer names to remember, makes it easier surely?!

I remember it like this

Me
Ngee
Bloke with the big tyre
Bloke on the green bike
The Aussie guy
Him with the camera
That guy that said it was perfectly rideable
The Welsh fella
And the other one

From them pics, looks pretty good condition's?
Unlike my local slop!

It was cold enough that the slop had largely solidified, and this is not a bad area in the wet anyway.

Chaps! Just got to computer after visit to family. What a great ride and good to meet some fellow STWers. Richard those photos are great! I have been reading your blog for a while and possibly follow you on Twitter - how funny to meet you and not realise until after.

Cheers for waiting for me at the top of the hills. That ride was enough of a kick up the arse to motivate me to get fitter. Could hardly walk in the car park. I'd be up for another ride sometime.

Cheers Kas
Green bike

Me - you
Ngee - me
Bloke with the big tyre - Steve
Bloke on the green bike - Kas
The [s]Aussie[/s] Kiwi guy (I think - from the accent...?) - Rich
Him with the camera - Rich
That guy that said it was perfectly rideable - Matt
The Welsh fella - Tom
And the other one - Rob

I think...

Sorry I missed this; looks like it was fun. We went to Rogate for some extremely tasty gnar and then on to QECP for a dreary tuna baguette and a grim grind round claggy trails wholly unsuited to a bike that only really likes going downhill.

Kiwi - sheesh! That'd be a Taswegian accent!

My bad....it was the conversation about living in Sydney that confused me

Matt - I went for the odd Waz!!!

Look it's perfectly simple.

There was Gaz, Cas, Baz and Taz,
Rich, Mitch, Titch and Fitch,
Njee. And me.

Dave and Bog got dropped then bumped into Jim and they all went to the pub.

Usual story. Lightweights.

Not like the old days eh when the trails where all names of songs and the rides consisted of;

Pugh Pugh Barney Magrew Cuthbert Dibble and Grub

Yeah, I still can't bring myself to say "Barry's .." and "Yoghurt Pots", it's just wrong to me.

Definitely a generational divide there.

They were proper trails in our day eh? None of this sanitised all weather bermy bend nonsense.

I clearly need a more niche bike , or a more original log in nomenclature.
I was on the black Yeti 575.
Dont think I have been on a ride and just been called ' the other one'

Clearly must try harder in the future.

T'was a great afernoon, We should have slotted in Clawhammer as well as we were seconds from the entry and Im almost sure the return is via that CP?

It's gone!

It's wasn't that close either, it's over on Winterfold.

I miss the old rooty ending to Barry's. In fact, whilst understanding the need for the new route, I miss the old Barry's full stop 🙁

Amen, I would always start never quite sure if I'd be able to finish, I rode, walked and stacked that slope in equal measures. And when I did finish it was all the way to the house. But it wasn't "Barry's".

Yeah Clawhammer is gone, the Claw is felled and gone forever, sniff, but there are lines through.
