I've bought the bike but I haven't got it yet, just wondering if anyone thinks this might be worth doing? The thought of a tiny qr skewer holding such a big wheel on horizontal dropouts just makes me feel weird. The hub is a Hope Pro 2 Evo so it wouldn't cost more than £20 including the axle. Would appreciate some input, thanks! 🙂

Go for it.

Long story, but took mine down the DH track at fort bill one snowy winter evening last year. Excessive braking (For a fatbike) resulted in the rear wheel trying to leave the party.

So to answer your question, yes there will be times you wished you had a 10mm axle.

Thanks for your reply, I just went for it and bought a superstar axle but man is it flimsy the levers are made of plastic!!
Wow, I cannot believe you took your fatbike down a DH track!! I would never have even thought of that, how's it ride?
