I've just put on a 32tooth surly chainring and new kmc z610 hx chain onto my singlespeed and i'm having trouble as it doesn't feel quite right through the pedals, the chain feels as if its quite stiff to disengage from the teeth of the chainring, the chainline hasn't changed from before and its not excessively tensioned. Do Surly chainrings require some bedding in or similar? cheers for any help
older surly rings were designed for upto 8 speed chains, however new rings also work well with 9 speed.
my old surly ring is still going and has worn to a stage that 9 speed chains work just fine, but i do recall when i first got it 9 speed chains grabed the ring and wernt as free as you would expect.
