I have a quandary - I want to but some Maxxis Shorty tyres for the winter in 27.5. My local shop has one - at 59.99 GBP.
CRC are selling them at 39.99 GBP.
I would be prepared to maybe pay a tenner more to shop local ...
But am I being mean not accepting a 50% price hike ?
How well are you known in the shop? Ask them if they can get closer? Is it actually the same tyre? Differnt tpi / compound?
Split the difference - buy one from the shop and the other from CRC.
Price hike seems an odd way to think of it to me, isn’t that the RRP and it’s CRC doing a deep discount?
You can have a lightly used secondhand 2.3 Exo 3C cheap from me and then the other from your LBS!
My local shop often google the product before putting it through the till then tell me how much they can do it for. I’m prepared to pay more at lbs for convenience and service etc. They have always price matched without asking. Don’t know if I would be brave enough to ask though!
Buy one from CRC and give the lbs £10 in an envelope.
Ask for a discount, they are business folk after all.
Always try to use LBS, for very obvious reasons.
As TJ said, make sure you're comparing apples with apples, the WCRC ones may be lower spec OEMs, which would explain the big price difference.
Either way, definately ask.
