Were 9mm through bolt adapters ever a thing on the Ultralite hub?

Have a 15mm hub on the way from a forumite but before I buy 5mm end caps and drill them out to 9mm, figured I'd ask if anyone has any?

Never been available. We did almost put some qr adapters in the cnc lathe a few months back but a load of OE work came in so it got forgotten about.

As you say bang a 9mm drill through a qr one. 2seconds work and your sorted.

If you mean the 9mm threaded ones, then these fitted my Ultralite hub https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/hub-spares/novatec-front-side-caps-threaded-9-mm/

I would just buy new hubs. Our end caps were not strong enough and everytime you remove the rear wheel the cassette and pawls spill out onto the trail.
Then a 14months in the hub has completely failed - feels like the driver ring inside the hub shell is not connected anymore/you can see a crack in it all round. I put new pawls and spings in, re-greased, cleaned etc etc - still just turns, engages pawls but then turns with mucho resistance.

The difference between the cost/value of SS lasting for just over a year or my Hope's that are now a decade on an still going cannot be ignored.

Hello, if your having a problem with your superstar hubs and your clearly within warranty from your comment then get in contact with us. No doubt they will just get replaced for you. I don’t understand why people complain bitterly on forums and then never send stuff back or contact us???

As this was about front hubs none of the above applies. Those adapters look like they will be the right one but I’ve never tried them so can’t guarantee anything

To be fair, that's not their Switch hubs (maybe Fuel?) you're on about and for balance all of our Switch rears have been faultless for a good few years. Switch freehubs are held in place by the hub axle.

fwiw I've had a pair of superstar switch ultralights and they've been great for several years. well sealed and not serviced once. Put 15mm adaptors on the front and hammered them with no problems.

the ultralights were novatec 771/772 hubs where they not so just use those endcaps like mentioned above.

For info. You have to unscrew the threaded 15mm end caps they don't just pull out like Switch/ Hope/Mavic ones. There are some small holes which unscrew the retaining ring. There's probably a proper tool but those pointy pliers type things or a bradawl work.

The wheels were only a few weeks old when we bought them second hand.
My son's first email was unanswered.
The second response was the you don't warranty second hand and spring/pawl kits were £19.99.

I've still got the damaged wheel, albeit minus the free hub that was scored and a chunk out of it from when the drive ring broke. It may be in the bucket, but I may have binned.

Happy if that's an offer to warranty the wheel.
