My qr superstar switch front hub needs a service. I can get the caps off but there’s a ring inside that won’t cone out. Any tips before I destroy it? Has anyone done this. J can’t find a guide anywhere where I recognise the parts.
Please help.
Do you mean the spacer between the bearings? Can you see the bearing with the qr adapter removed? If so just stick a flat head screw driver into where the axle would go, bend the spacer out of the way so the blade is against the back of the bearing and whack the screw driver handle until the bearing falls out. The spacer will fall out too, then just attack the other bearing.
Brute force and ignorance for the cap behind the adaptors iirc
The black cover over the bearing looks like it’s driven out by the bearing. Nothing to get it out with. Thanks fo the help.
I used a screwdriver to remove the outer and the inner ring from the hub.
This three part adaptor to hub interface has a small third ring betweeen the 9mm qr and the fixer hub pressed ring. But the new 15mm version’s in between ring is threaded. The original version isn’t. More confused then before.
