Anyone use the slackeriser headset by superstar, looking at a one for my cotic soul, last model 26" frame, so has dropper and tapered headtube, just wondering onany downsides to 2degrees slacket??
I spoke to the guys at cotic about doing something simiilar on a solaris. I was advised to go for 1.5 for the following reaons
They suggested that 2 degrees would lower the BB too much. Whats too low I guess is a personal preference and where you ride. The other thing they said was that you wont get the full 2 degrees. Using the 1.5 as an example they suggested that I would actually get 1 degree on the head angle and 0.5 steeper seat tube.
Yeah I got one and put it on an old dialled bikes alpine, it’s feels and rides good as always makes me smile. To be fair never rode it with out though.
Are you gonna do it Chrismac?
It would appeal to me if I just rode 29in, but the BB feels a bit too low already on my Solaris mk2 when I've got 2.8in B-plus on it.
I haven't used superstar's one but I've put Works ones in a load of bikes (and one Cane Creek one, which was expensive heavy and creaky). TBH I doubt you'll notice very much difference between 1.5 and 2, but also, I always go to the max first time because either it'll suit you, or you'll know it's too far- if you go for the middle option, you'll never know if you'd be better with 2.
I've never ridden a bike that wasn't better with it in, but, I think possibly a Soul might be an exception- my C456 and my Hemlock were both lazy climbers anyway so I gained descending POWAH where it counts, at the cost of making something they weren't great at, a little worse. But a Soul's a more balanced, better allrounder in the first place...
Ive just fitted one in my onza jackpot. Its now got a 66° headangle rather than 68°. Only 1 ride so far but seems to be a great improvement. Im going to give the bike a hammering at the bike park this weekend and put it through its paces properly.
Used the Superstar Slackerizer on a Transition Bandit 27.5. Couldn't have been happier with the mod. Fit and finish was just as good as any other headset I've used (Hope, Cane Creek, FSA etc.). Can't speak for long term reliability though as bike got stolen.

Do these headset jobbies work on frames with a 1.5" headtube?
I currently have a frame with a 1.5" - 1.125" reducer set in it to use standard 1 1/8" steers forks, and it'd be nice to slacken it off if possible.
Yep, no problem- the first ones that came out were all for 1.5 actually.
Yes. Im just in the process of ordering it from Works. Mine is also a 650b+ with 2.8s.
