My Works ring is finally toast so I need a new one, seen the SS one on this Fridays goods and curious about it, prices have gone up since I last checked but as usual SS have a sale on so all good.
Stick to what I know or give one a go? - Some rather- strange tooth profile going on with very short teeth and offset wide bits, similar to Eagle stuff but without the tooth height (and cost) They almost look like a shift ring but with the narrow / wide thing.
I would like more mud clearance for the winter but worry they wont keep the chain on as well - I don't use a guide and don't want to muck about with drive-train issues.
Anybody?
Not tried the SS ring but have used Absolute Black and Works. Just replaced the AB with a direct mount Eagle and it's so much quiter in the mud. Things got pretty muddy yesterday and I didn't hear it grind once whereas the AB or Works one would have been making a right racket. This is with an 11 speed KMC chain and Shimano cassette.
The Eagle rings look to have much taller teeth than the SS though which seem very short.
I think I may just go for an Eagle ring instead, I can put up with a bit of noise from the ring but dont want dropped chains and I am sure SRAM will have both right, dont want to be an SS guinea pig.
That or just get another Works one and put up with the noise and less than perfet mud shedding....
Yeah I'd go with the Eagle, I was well impressed and also really surprised in the difference.
Bump for the afternoon before I order an Eagle ring, nobody running a raptor yet?
