Any one with real world experiences of both, not sure weather to get standard nanos or the thru pin variant
Cheers

Thru pin, if those are the ones that thread in from the back. That way you can still get them out for replacement when they get bashed.
Thru pins mate, used the standard version for a year and the pins were impossible to change after that!
Never had a pin I can't get out of the not-thru-pins tbh- penetrating oil and molegrips shifts them almost all the time, slot in the head does the rest. Whereas thru-pins can get tricky once the end's misshapen (needs cut off) and the pedals are generally less strong (bigger oles) so more likely to bend.
So in the end I don't think there's much between 'em.
I've got one set of both, I'd buy the thru-pin ones again (unless you are a weight weenie and unlikely to bash on rocks).
I've lost a few grub screws from the non thru ones, but the thru ones have all their original pins.
Northwind - how can you remove a pin that has been snapped off with nothing to get hold of with mole grips etc?
Non-thru pins for me. Would rather bend/snap a pin than damage the pedal body by smashing a thru-pin out of it
Only used the thu-pin ones but they are plenty grippy. Lose two pins on each side compared to the standard ones I believe.

You can always slot them. But snapping off proud to the pedal is freakishly rare, except on pedals with silly alu pins.
Thanks for the replies guys it appears thru pins it is cheers
Steel pin had seized up, was badly bent and tried to undo with mole grips.
All my pins came out with mole grips, replacement pins are mega cheap too
