Was going to get some Race Matrix pads but reviews on here are pretty mixed. They seem pretty good across the board for the Superstar and they still have them for my brakes, anyone want to re-educate me before I press buy? Not worried on CS for a couple of sets of brake pads BTW.........
Rahox
I've had zero problems with race matrix pads. My preference is usually to stick with organic pads and just replace them more often in winter, but I can't perceive much of a difference with the race matrix pads and they certainly seem to last a lot longer. Got them on my CX/gravel bike too and that only ever goes out in shitty conditions and they've not worn out yet.
Kevlar pads seemed to lack power, felt more like a sintered pad TBH.
Or uberbike Kevlar? I have fitted these to guides after seam sintered and they are better.
I would assume correctly ? That race matrix pads for guide rsc brakes would be a MASSIVE improvement over stock kak
Superstar no longer do brake pads other than stock they're running down.
Which is an arse because I really liked their Kevlar. Currently I'm running uberbike race matrix, which seems to feel nice at regular speeds, but at the very lairy end with my 90kgs on big hills, they don't have the urgency that Kevlar does. I'll probably try Uberbike Kevlar next.
Prefer Rahox to race matrix,
Like the SS Kevlar ones but found a weird bit of metal embedded in the pad
My go to pads are usually Disco brakes kevlar pads. Got a set of race matrix at christmas when they were on offer to see for myself what they are like, just need to fit them now.
As far as I can tell the uber kevlars are the exact same pads as SS kevlar, I like them enough to not bother finding anything else. I'm one of the racematrix critics but tbh, when they worked well for me they were ace, it's just that they totally shat the bed when I took them to the alps. If not for that, maybe I'd have just kept using them (or maybe the same would have happened some time in the UK, who knows)
I'm with northwind racematrix pads get weirdly inconsistent on long descents
Sounds like some Kevlar are the go then. What are they like in the wet in terms of wear and noise?
Uberbike Race Matrix pax’s are the best I’ve used, including the originals, for my Guide RSC’s.
I've been running Race Matrix finned all year round in both Guide RS and XTs for years and have not found any reason to change.
I think there are a lot of variables with different calipers, discs and the dirt where you ride. I bought Superstar Kevlar after reading a thread like this and found them noisy and (mercifuly) short lived. Uberbike race matrix have been good for me
Hmmmm. You're South Downs-ish aren't you RB?
Guide RE for what it's worth so Code calipers, 200mm SRAM centerline rotors
Haven't bought any pads other than race matrix for ages now.
Really like them.
