Anyone tried superstar components hose kits for avid juicys. Bought a clarks kits and if I'm honest it looks fairly rubbish. The genuine avid hose kits for juicys are £££
Their kits are fine. I had the smoked carbon hoses on a set of new saint brakes. No change in performance (I never have noticed any difference with braided hoses on any brakes).
Quality on the hoses and fittings is excellent.
A mechanic in a bike shop once told me that the internal hose diameters were so small and the amount of fluid so little that it wasn't worth replacing cycle hoses with fancy if performance improvement was the goal. Obviously if you need to replace them anyway braided look nicer!
Having said that I felt a real difference with motor bike brakes by using goodridge hoses but the sizes are of course much greater.
I've had a few of heir kits and they've always been ok...never noticed any difference in performance. I just do it to colour code the hoses...I know it's sad, but I don't care. For the money I really can't fault them.
I used their formula kit, the hose seems identical to formula's own, the fittings are clunkier and heavier though (but compatible, so I ended up using formula fittings and superstar hose).
Wasn't so much the hoses or braking power that bothered me about the clarks it was the fittings they were quite chunky and cheaply made in comparison to the genuine avid fittings (just me being a tart maybe)
just fitted the non braided option to some brakes. Excellent value and work well. I'd hazzard a guess that they are much better than standard hoses too. ime uprated hoses are better on full sussers due to the continual rear end sus movement which can cause damage. Also the fittings are generally alot tougher.
