They have them for shim 12 speed and sram 11 sod too.

Importantly Eagle ones have the ridge around the teeth on the top jockey to stop the chain jamming in the cage. Basically SS have copied the mk2 sram design jockey. Which is a good thing.

Just a psa really.

Those haters from years ago will never change...

Actually you're quite wrong.

I was one of those "haters" as you say, when they first hit the market many of their products were pretty poor, especially their brake pads, and they rightly took a lot of stick.

Wind forward all these years and, having recently returned to mtbing after a break of quite a few years, I decided to give Superstar another try. I haven't had a problem with any of the items I've brought and am glad to see them doing well

Sometime 'haters' have a point and if companies approach such criticism constructively, using it as impetus to improve their products and service, then said criticism has had a positive outcome.

Yes there will always be a few folks won't alter their opinions regardless of new evidence but that is true of everything, not just bicycle component sales.

Bit 1990s for me, but very "trick" if you like that sort of thing.

As for the company itself, yeah the products have got way better and I love the pedals particularly - but the customer service is still weirdly passive aggressive.

Wonder how much they really ride too, 'cos the products often seem just slightly off where they need to be, IYKWIM.

Quick look on trust pilot lines up perfectly with my experience of superstar! I’m sure some of the products are fine but wait till you have an issue, you wish you hadn’t bothered. Also try leaving a product review that isn’t 4-5 stars, that won’t get published.

Uberbikes also sell eagle jockey wheels now; I know where I’d be buying them from.

I agree and acknowledge the early issues especially with brake pads but back then they were purely importing cheap parts .what they are doing now is chalk and cheese

Cheers for the code

I’ll not go too deep on this as no doubt I’ll get misquoted as usual, but the reason why we have a few angry people on Trustpilot is I refuse to pay £349 per month forever to them to edit/delete and whitewash like most other companies seem to do. Our internal product reviews there are plenty of bad ones up there, we only remove irrelevant or abusive ones. Actually Trustpilot is the first place angry customers goto bad mouth us (usually before contacting us), and it shows how few bad reviews we actually get...

Some days after busting a gut to employ people and make nice products for sensible prices, the made up rubbish I read online makes me think of jacking it all in. When we do get nice comments it’s really appreciated as I know only 1:1000 happy people make the effort to comment vs every angry person.

So believe what makes you happy. I’ll keep making stuff I want to make until I get bored of the windgers and do something more rewarding to do with my life.

If you have any questions let me know, I’m a real person.

I've never had any issues with superstar customer services, returned a couple of thing after I ordered the wrong thing or changed my mind and they've always been spot on.

Had some fuel hubs (rebranded as superstar) the freehub failed on two occasions and after an email with a couple of photos I had a new freehub within 24hrs for both times.

Superstar Components UK Made derailleur wheels have been specially developed for the 13T Shimano 12 Speed drive system. They are manufactured inhouse in our CNC facility in Lincoln-UK from high-strength Aerospace grade 7075 T651 aluminium alloy. The Narrow / Wide design of the wheels keeps your chain safely where it belongs, and also provides a crisp shifting behaviour.

Obviously some engineering magic going on here...

I have no issue with Superstars products, or the service.  But I do get put off by their passive aggressive posts on social media and forums.  I would suggest it’s one of the reason there are ‘haterz’ otherwise they offer some great products are very fair prices.  So not sure what’s not to like....that said I haven’t bought anything from them for a while, eagle jockey wheels are on the list mind

Used loads of Superstar kit without issue and I'm known for killing kit.
Most notably the Pave wheels on my road bike are still straight and true after a few thousand miles despite me getting bored of road riding and doing a lap of Swinley on 25c tyres (more than once). Lots of punctures, wheels fine.

I currently don't need jockey wheels but I'm sure they're great.

Got loads of their stuff - bars, posts, chainrings, tools, grips, pads, a stem or two amongst other things - and maybe 4 pairs of wheels. Never had a problem with any of it.

The last pair of wheels cost me 75 quid. Ridiculous value. And are holding up superbly.

No complaint whatsoever here about any of the Superstar stuff bought over last 8 years or so, Pads, wheels, nanos, discs etc etc.

I use there products but the bloke i contacted was a dick, shame as they are local(ish) to me. I also stoped following on social mediea.

The're doing good things and got to respect what they have become but not my first choice anymore.

Also never had an issue with any products.

Has about six sets of wheels, across all my bikes. Great wheels, amazing value- had problems with one- it was sorted perfectly well, exceeding my expectations and by a nice bloke.
All good here.

I've had a couple of sets of wheels, and the odd bit from Superstar and have had no problems whatsoever with either the products or their customer service. Don't understand the hate tbh. I think it's great that we have UK based small manufacturers like this.

You really want to know my reasons Neil? Really?

I have never bought a thing and never will. You ripped off several of my friends, mocked them on here, refused refunds for faulty products. Astro turfed on here illegally, from other stories on here your quality control is poor, your customer service appalling, your attitude stinks as you have shown with your responses.

This is not how a professional operates

Woah tiger.

I've brought stuff from you recently which I'm pretty happy with, but it still appears to me that you come across as a complete numpty when you decide to respond to anything but the most glowing of praise. Perhaps being 'customer facing' just isn't your thing?

The negativity around Superstar Components isn't always someone else's fault.

I've bought a lot over the years and never had a single issue with anything.

That being the case, I have not experienced the company from the viewpoint of having issues so can't comment on that.

It does seem to me that the company have received a high degree of bandwagonesque internet bashing and so I can understand why the bloke who owns it might get a bit upset and defensive on a forum. It must be very difficult to keep quiet and not react.

We had a thread recently about a bike shop (Merlin I think) possibly not publishing unfavourable reviews. Well the majority of companies don't I thought, hence the reason for independent review sites.

Anyway, glad to see them supporting UK manufacturing and good to see what they come out with 👍

Perhaps being ‘customer facing’ just isn’t your thing?

Exactly. Can still be successful though. Ryanair anyone?

As you can see from his responses TJ has never bought any of our products so can’t have a genuine opinion. Yet has been making stuff up for over a decade in a weird personal vendetta.

TJ and his mates are echo chamber trolls who need to grow up and move on.

Meanwhile for the rest of the population we will carry on selling to tens of thousands of people a year, 99.9% of which are happy with what we do

Making things up?
Did you refuse several of my friends refunds on faulty products - Yes

Did you slag them off on here using the user name Fruit - yes

did you astroturf on here - yes

Are there plenty of stories of your poor customer service - yes - a few on these two threads

Is what I said correct - yes.

I strongly suspect this thread is about to be closed but Neil, although you may not like it, TJ’s latter point is correct. Don’t respond any further, just let your positive customers speak for you.  Feedback - positive or negative - is a good way to help product strategy if you sit back and consider what’s being said without being emotional.

I totally get your original post - man strives to build a cottage industry local business and feels emotionally about the negative feedback received - but feel good that you have many happy customers and focus on the quality you can achieve at your price point and don’t get emotionally involved in these threads.

Good luck to you ongoing.

TJ give it rest, please, you’ve said your piece.

TJ can't give it a rest, he's one of those guys that always has to be right, even if everyone has already concluded it's not that interesting or important.

Neil has never come across well on here either tbh, even back in the day when it was all a bit lairy. He's a bit firey - isn't he a ginger? That would explain a lot.

I pre-ordered some 12t jockey wheels for SRAM 11 speed, arrived home today to find they had been delivered yesterday.

They look great, well made, nice bearings that spin freely. I can't wait to fit them on my bike later and try them out on a ride tomorrow.

I’m not emotional, I’m just pointing out that TJ is a troll and has been at it for a decade. His mate who I apparently ripped off got a set of cranks with a problem 10 years ago (yes that’s true I have no issue with this, just send back for a refund or swap no problem). Then proceeded to intentionally destroy them and publicly brag about this in a forum, and wondered why he didn’t get a refund.

When he didn’t get a refund TJ seems to have started a crusade along with his mates on this public forum where they stated they would Troll Superstar forever and put us out of business...

If you bought a car which had a dented wing, then intentionally set it on fire, put the video on YouTube of you bragging about it. Would you get a refund... no. Did we do anything wrong, clearly not unless you are a Troll like TJ.

So in summary if you google any company you can find some people who got upset. We are still in business 10 years later as we clearly aren’t con artists like TJ makes out. 99.9% of our customers are perfectly happy, most of the ones who aren’t haven’t even bought anything from us like TJ and therefore aren’t our customers.

I hope the tens of thousands of our customers are out there riding their bikes with superstar parts on and having a nice time.

Neil Superstar

I've had wheels, chain rings, eveo nano peddles and some other bits. Never had any issues or problems when contacting them either.

I've bought plenty from superstar over the years - never had any problems. I DID have a freehub blow up on a hub (it was the dearer model, probably 2013ish?) but a couple of emails and a swap of hub (the version I had was out of stock) and FOC wheel rebuild soon sorted it.

Having worked customer facing years ago, I have seen how most consumers approach communication around a problem and it probably draws out a reaction. I'm not saying that's right, but when 80% (basing on my experience) make their opening gambit the usual bullshit of "not fit for purpose"/"I'll destroy you on the internet if I don't get my way"/"I know my rights, I read it on the internet", you'd probably be fed up too.

So I'll be adding these to my bike in a bit, and if I ever encounter a problem, sending in a polite request for help. Always seems to work.

Anyways, off for a beer in the sun now 👍👍

Harping on about something from 10+ years ago seems kinda pathetic. Maybe there were issues with cranks back then (I vaguely remember something about rocks....) but when the big companies say 'this is an isolated incident / we've never seen this before' which one knows is complete shi'ite, what do you expect a small start-up company to say? They'll probably deny that there is a big issue, quietly delete or revise the product and move on because only the sad vindictive people will remember in 10 years time 😉 Customers can be the worst, and you never even reached customer level.
