Hi all I recently purchased a following V3, after struggling to find a superboost wheelset I started to build the bike yesterday only to find I couldn't get the chainset to sit properly. I tried hope and dub with no luck. I went to my LBS this morning and he said there is no way to make it work and Ill need a new chainset. I have been looking online and info is thin but it looks like you may be able to use a 0 offset chainring with sram cranks? does anyone have any advice or experience of this please?
with Sram eagle cranks, the difference between, non boost/boost / superboost is the profile of the spocket, the crank arms are identical, the sprocket just curves out more.
I bought a non boost crankset and I needed a new one, and used an existing boost sprocket.
it looks like you may be able to use a 0 offset chainring with sram direct mount cranks?
Correct.
(Or any crank that uses SRAMs direct mount system, as a few other brands do)
Race Face cinch cranks can be fitted with a longer axle that would give clearance. Not a cheap option if buying new as you have to buy a crank set the. The extra axle on top.
