Bit of a self inflicted bad head today so didn't manage to get out until 3.30
Headed along the SUW then took a detour for a hair of the dog...
Whats everyone else been up to?

I headed out to Ballater and rode Heartbreak Ridge, Mastermind and a trail at Cambus O’May. Maaan it was hot and climb up to Mastermind on a 37lb bike was really hard 😂.
I managed to tweak something in my knee a few weeks ago (couldn’t load the outside of my left knee without pain and instability) and it looks like a couple of weeks of just XC riding has fixed it.

I so wanted a beer, but unfortunately I had to drive back to Aberdeen.

Looking out to Lochnagar

A different view of Heartbreak Ridge.

We have been out in the Peak since Thursday. Walking during the day and then going out late afternoon on the bikes.
Yesterday we did a loop from Castleton over to the farside of Ladybower and back taking in all of the usual climbs and descends

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Today we did the climb from Hope up the back of Win Hill then down the ridge to the Beast and back along the side of the reservoir. Finished up playing on the cheeky stuff off Win Hill before descending back to Castleton

Trails are dry, fast and fun

No pics but took the Cubs on a 15 mile ride and the parents who borrowed bikes are definitely going to buy their own so win.

Good work @geck76 - the cub rides I went on were always a bit hairy!!!

I managed a 7.5hr epic all over the Mendips and surrounding area today. It was an amazing ride and discovered some new bridleways.

What's it like? It'd be a nice local getaway for us. Often find the club sites a bit hit and miss though.

salter fell on the gravel bikes. A new area to us and it’s stunning. Unbelievably quiet

Had an unexpected one and half hours free on Friday after work so jumped on the bike. I didn’t swap the wheels so had skinny tyres and high pressures which was a mistake but nice anyway

Dales

On Saturday morning I rode out from the Dales in to the lakes with better wheels

Lakes 1

Lakes 2

Should get a road pootle later with the wife

Near Marlborough on Saturday. The trails are lovely when they have dried out, but an awful claggy mess when it's wet. Thankfully was the former. Could've stayed out all day...

One from the local woods today, another from this weeks break away to northern Cornwall (more suited to a roadbike TBH, barring some footpath cheek)

null

Technically no the weekend, but one from during the week (A holiday better suited to a road bike TBH)

And just incase anyone is interested I popped these danger brakes on at the start of lockdown one, and some folk wanted updates. I still have teeth and they are still going strong 💪

First time in the Quantocks for 2 years. Amazing views, brutal climbs, fast descents and almost no people! They've even upgraded the pub!

Only 90 mins away. Shall be back soon. Hopefully with a spare set of climbing legs...

Rode to my local woods on Saturday, spent a bit of time hitting some berms and some of the more gentle/rollable jumps. Then Blean woods on Sunday. Did a LOT of peddling and got pretty muddy considering how dry the weather has been. I'm feeling like I'm enjoying MTB way more than road at the moment. I am however really crap at MTB and my local woods are very hardcore for me.

Decided to go back to Brimmond Hill yesterday, which is the highest point within Aberdeen's city limits. I tried to get there and back off road as much as I could.

Then off to Kirkhill Forest, which is a place I usually go mountain biking. I just stuck to the fire roads this time though due to being on the gravel bike.

The radio mast you can see at the very back of this pic is the one from Brimmond Hill.

28.76 miles in total with 2226ft of climbing which doesn't seem much but not bad for still being within the city.

One of those "what if" days - what if we try and bike between all four Striding Arches. Bit of huffing and puffing but we did it...

Sunday ride was helping Piemonster recce the Cairngorm Loop route.

Started in Blair Atholl, with a ride up Glen Tilt. Looks like they've completed shooting the scenes for the new Star Wars movie, with just some props left.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Then on to the Falls of Tarf

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

For those that don't know Glen Tilt, there's a high penalty for failure on some of the singletrack sections.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Still some snow on the south-facing Cairngorm summits

[img] [/img]

Geldie-Feshie watershed was pretty dry.

[img] [/img]

Still some water flowing down the Eidart though!

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Colins Howff still stands. I had dreams of trying to repair this a little but I doubt it has much time left.

[img] [/img]

Glen Feshie looking resplendent. Lots of new growth with the ongoing zero deer policy.

[img] [/img]

Piemonster on one of the rare times I was ahead of him (only because he'd stopped for a moment).

[img] [/img]

The crossing of the Allt Loch an Duin. Looking a lot more tame than it did two years ago.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

We made it back to Blair Atholl just before Food in the Park closed so inhaled a chippy!!
