Oof, my feet are hot!
I don't visit here too often and I am conscious that this subject could be equal to a 'what tyre' thread but I am in the office with limited time to search so... My current pair of 5ten Pro's are falling apart and are due for replacement. What's the summer weight MTB shoe that could equal the grip and foot support of the 5ten pro but better heat control please?
I use FIVE TEN TRAILCROSS MID PRO, which are super well vented, but still keep most of the trail junk out. The low versions should be super cool.
I really like my RideConcepts Accomplice.
Grippy, very well vented (you can feel a breeze through them), protected toe box, a little lace tuck thing and they have a sock-like tongue to keep the pine needles and small stones out. You can also wear them off the bike and not look weird.
Ride Concepts currently cheap on Sportsdirect too!
That's where I got mine. Limited sizing available at the moment though by the looks if it.
Speaking of size, I'd read somewhere it was recommended to go up a size in RCs, which I did. Perfect fit.
I'm an 11 in 5tens and Adidas but a 10 in Doctor Martins. Haven't bought any other brand of footwear in 15 year now I thing about it. I'll probably be look for 11 in anything else I reckon.
I have been looking at the Trail Cross, I might see of they have any in Go Outdoors to try on. Not considered the Ride Concepts. They look ideal and the reviews are favourable too.
Thanks All!
I really like the Trailcross too, I have a regular pair for the summer and a Goretex pair for the winter.
I bought the regular ones in the middle of winter at 50% off, and the Goretex ones in the middle of summer at 50% off. Played the long game 😀
Basic Freeriders, love em. Excellent grip, about the right amount of flex and feel (ymmv, I like a softish sole), and they're pretty cool to ride in. Zero toe protection, if that's a consideration. They can also be really cheap at times
Another vote for Trailcross. I only bought them because they were going for £35 in a sale but they are really good. Not remotely waterproof but light and airy for summer rides. Not a great deal of toe protection either but mine do have a pad over the inside of the ankle which saves that bony bit on occasion
I get really hot feet, so my simple tip is to cut out the tongue. We've got lots of veins on the top of our feet , so the airflow cools your blood. When the weather cools I fix the tongue back in with some velcro.
