I'm in need of some new gloves for summer -

Requirements:

Breathable and cool
Full fingers
Slightly padded palm, but nothing OTT.
Around £20.
Don't care for brand names, but do care for normal colours (No neon/bright/flouro stuff)

Can anyone recommend anything?

Cheers!

Scott Superstitious from Start Cycles. £50 rrp, typically high Scott build and materials quality, mesh finger sides and breathable back, just worn for a week of high 20C's in turkey, with D3O reactive knuckle armour, Pittards leather palm etc.

About £15 or now doing 2 pairs for £25, use code TRIATHLETE10 to get extra 10% off. I'd buy a second pair to stash away if they still had my size.

My 661s have a lovely mesh back on them that keeps me nice and cool. It also helps start conversations:

Them: have your hands got measles?
Me: no, my riding gloves have a mesh back on them...

Does it need to be full fingered?

How do roadies cope? I can't recall the last time I landed and scraped along the floor on my finger tips. Roll bash/full stop.

Tarmac fall would most likely be a long slide.

When its warm I wear my mitts- I don't care if it doesn't look cool the POC-wearing crowd.

Unless it is winter, gloves = Troy Lee XC.

That is all.

I wear long-fingered all year round on the MTB, and long fingered on the roadbike when its cold. I dont tend to bash my road bike through narrow tree, bush or rock gaps so dont really need knuckle armour, but if an MTB glove offers it and there's no downside why would you not? Different tools for different jobs, who'd have thought it?

Those Scotts are the best cycling gloves Ive had in 20 years and are a bargain for the price, wish I'd bagged a second pair as theyve sold out of mediums now 🙄 . Compare that with £30 fox Unabombers which fell apart in a week.

661 Raji, but they are often colourful.

Still the best summer glove I have ever had though.

Halfords have some nice gloves for £5. No, really. Loads of snot wipe area, small gel pads, very breathable. Best fit I've ever had. Can't remember the brand, though.

I just cut the ends off my Troy Lee XC gloves. Great full finger summer glove anyways.

I need some gloves without large holes in and like the look of those Rajis, but red green or black ❓

Think I'll go for the 661 Raji in the least offensive colour I can find, cheers!

Even though CFs contribution to threads like these is as predictable as an erection*, I have to agree with him.

*Or Northwind's appearance on any CK headset thread, though there is no metaphorical connection...

661 raji every time. great feel and no sweaty palms (unless out of my depth on BPW blacks!)

As above, 661's all the way! 2011 models were so good I bought 4 pairs to keep me going!

Some time this year I might run out of old design Fox Sidewinders, and I shall be sad about that. When did Fox forget how to make gloves?

Is there anything that's just like a Raji but with a velcro cuff? Can't get on with slip-ons.

Can't vote for 661s - mine fell apart in 6 months. Troy Lees on the other hand (and indeed the first hand), good plan

The 661s are ok but nothing especially great and not actually that cool. My favourite ever summer gloves were some Racefaces ones with leather-like palms and a mesh back - they weren't the most durable though. No idea whether they still exist.

edit: that being said, the 661s are what's in my commuting bag.
