So, I refitted last years Rock Razor at the weekend (i know is my fault its now raining) and noticed its well past its best. So time to order a new set of summer tyres. Been lucky enough to get an entry for Ard Rock and Ard Moors this year. So with that in mind what are peoples recommendations. I am a big fan of Magic Mary/Rock Razor combo. But have heard Ard Rock is cruel on tyres so unsure of what level of side wall protection to plump for. Been looking at a Minion SS rear with Silkworm protection is that going to be strong enough as a rear? Upfront looking at Minion DHF, ut unsure what compound or side wall to go with. Will be running 650b 27mm ID rims.

TIA

At the 'Ard Rock last year I used a Butcher Control up front, with a Rock Razor super gravity on the rear. Both tubeless. No punctures.
Previous two years same on the front with a 2.35 single ply Crossmark on the rear. Again no punctures.

Thats interesting. My friends that have done it said its brutal on tyres and to go for something substantial. Super Gravity RR is on the list. I always found Spesh Control sidewalls quite thin so glad that its worked for you.

I might have been lucky or maybe just not reckless enough!
Lots of people do puncture at the 'Ard Rock that's for sure, particularly on s3.
My mates that punctured were all on tubes rather than tubeless.
