Gives me the option of 4dp or 20 min ftp when I set up my profile. As I've been using trainer road previously I want to just plug in the ftp number I know I have.
But as this is 20 min ftp do I need to add on a bit (say 5%) to my 1 hr ftp?
I had always assumed ftp was based on power for an hr, and whilst you can work it out on a 20 min test, there isn't such a thing as a 20 min ftp? Its not very clear.
With Sufferfest it’s well well worth doing the 4DP Test as it tailors the videos better to you.
If you don’t think you are going to/are sick/pass out you haven’t done it hard enough...
20 mins is a standard FTP test. It used a percentage of the power figure you generate during the 20 minutes to give a theoretical max power level you can sustain for an hour.
Do the 4DP test instead. It's more rigorous than the usual FTP test and can supposedly identify areas where you are weaker/stronger.
It will give you an FTP number at the end along with a bunch of other stuff.
I'd third doing the 4DP test. It's hideous though makes sense if you want to maximise the benefit of the SF vids.
