I'm tempted. Will have to do a ramp test to find my FTP. Not looking forward to that

Ramp test says 319W. Weight has gone up a bit to 79kg ☹️. Neither number makes me happy so some changes are needed!

How about a race up the Alpe? The only race I've ever won. I assume because most people swerve it.

Does everyone race together or are we separated into categories? My w/kg puts me into a stupid high category when in reality I'm really not very good and actually just a skinny weakling!!

We all race together, but then get our points based on our times + handicaps, which Robbo tells us before each race.

Handicap is based on W and W/kg depending on the course, according to Robbo’s magic formula.

So someone with a low W/kg can still come out with most points from a race if they do well vs their handicap.

There is also an individual GC competition so fastest cumulative time over the stages and rewards consistency.

There is also a green points jersey where I will award points (the location of how points are determined is set before the stage) for various features (climbs, sprints, fastest lap for critt city etc).

Idea is to make it so everyone has something to strive for!

Failing that there is also the lanterne rouge! 😀

Also if your zwift username is missing can you PM it to me (I think I sent everyone who i needed a Zwift username a message).

Finally if I have missed your sign up shout up and let me know!

25 degrees and glorious sunshine forecast for race time on Tuesday! Still, I've got a big fan and is safer than being on the roads! 😜🤣🔥😎

@robbo my ftp as reduced very slightly to 303w, need the series to drag me back up to peak performance. Weights edged the opposite direction from early summer and now at 79kg.

I should be able to make the first 3 before my rota kicks in for which I should know early October but expect two miss a couple of races unfortunately.

Are we riding MTB again BTW?

Looking forward to it in a masochist kind of way.

@richardkennerley - first race is the 14th (a week on Tuesday)

@kirky72 - no you can ride whatever you like for this series (although a MTB might be a disadvantage!)

Just buried myself and came up with some very disappointing numbers:

FTP 197, weight 85kg.

Over 60w down on the last series and 5kg heavier. FML.

Oh and haven't had any invited yet @robbo1234biking, you should already be following me from the last series.

If it makes you feel any better, if that's zwift's ramp test I'm often about 40-50w down on where it will then put me on my next ride. There's a bit of technique to getting them right. 60W/25% loss sounds like it's possibly that rather than an actual loss maybe?

My previous figures were from a ramp test and the races, both matched, so will see what happens after the first race. I remember I had a big FTP jump after the Time Trial though!

@reluctantjumper lined myself up for a, warmup and then FTP ramp test tomorrow morning and expecting similar. I already know I'm 82kg and not the 75 I should be...

I'm hoping that like last year it'll quickly start to improve though.

Ill announce the courses as soon as I get the links from Zwift. I dont want to announce them in case there is an issue with some of the course selections.

Lets just say you should like the first race course Weeksy (in fact there are a couple that should suit you).

After a rubbish spring/summer for training and riding, my FTP will be down and weight up, but this is exactly what I need to get myself going again.

I just hope it's a bit cooler by 14 Sept or I will drown in my own sweat.

@robbo1234biking , I'm weighing in at 76.5kg, FTP is an unknown at the moment. I won't be able to make the first race but I'm a possible for the 2nd race.
I'm happy for my previous FTP result to be used if that's ok? I'm probably a few W that result though.

Rick.

The worst part is, you're all coming in heavy and under zwifted, as soon as you get going again your FTP will fly up and weight down! Boom, lots of pace.

Don't forget, you'll be handicapped based upon these numbers too, so can work in your favour

Ooooft, 5 laps of classique, that's a tough start. As you implied, it kinda suits me, bit still a decent challenge as I don't usually race 30+ distance races. I'm deffo more a short and sweet kind of guy.

Well that was embarrassing, averaged 302W for 20 min FTP test then realised it takes 85% as the actual figure! So new FTP 286W and 80kg. Not sure if the test is based on previous FTP, but asking me to do 355W for 5 mins was wholly unachievable.

I think they take 95% of your 20 min best, NOT 85..

Ok..
@robbo1234biking

Pop my name down for this again... probably better to be in the list and NOT turn up (As ride IRL on tuesdays) rather than miss out.
I haven't done an FTP, so painfully I'll stick with my current (i.e OLD!) FTP..
FTP 301w
weight 71kg
These figures will come to bite me in the bum, eh!
