I can't see a fred about it, so thought I'd start one!

We've Weeksy who's just IN an arm cast.. me, who is just OUT of one (same colour, btw... )...

Gonna be a flat start, then a "go go gadget hill climb" period of elevation....
Then flat home...

What do we reckon...42-8 min of racing?

What bikes to use..hmm....

I'm gonna use my new Trek Emonda frame and my 'all round aero wheels.... will it be the right choice 🤔.....

Who else is raring to go!

As always I'll TRY to get the twitch feed working, but the laptop is SOOOOO variable!

Just posted an update on the Race Series thread 🙂 I think I will change to a climbing bike tonight as well. Something I realised on the TTT last week - you don't sit up on the Tron bike when you are drafting so I think I was trying to put too much effort out in the draft and not getting the full benefit which out weights the benefit of using the tron bike to gain a few seconds!

Is there much drafting on a climb? Not really done any zwift racing on climbs.
My legs are feeling really tired from this weekend, 80 miles on the road bike on Sunday which should have been fine, but I’m feeling it today.
Bike wise, for some reason I thought the tron was the fastest all round bike?

Tron isn't fastest on all courses. Im not sure the benefits outweigh the cons if you have access to other bikes.

Based on some OTT analysis of the Innsbruck KOM, the DT wheels actually appear to be faster than the Lightweights. The road bike data is not reliable due to drafting, but the TT bike result suprised me.

That's basically true of anything without a hill top finish. The weight gains on the way up are always outmatched by aero on the way down for wheels, hence the "heavy" 808s being faster.

(you do get odd combo bonuses though apparently and a TT bike is far enough along the aero curve and back on the weight one to get a bigger weight boost than aero )

Ya, but this is just the climbing segment, not the whole lap.

Really? I'd have expected test mule times on the climb alone to be a good few minutes faster than that. The times sound more like the hill bottom top bottom.

I used a feeble heavy old test mule 85kg and 270W.

Well I hope he's got a 22 minute handicap

Is that what you were doing yesterday @twisty? I thought you were doing some mega reconnaissance!

I am near enough the same as that Mule. My PR is 29 minutes. I am hoping to beat that tonight!

looking forward to tonight, even after getting shelled out the back of several groups last week !

never done a reasonable climb on Zwift before (always used Rouvy for climbing practice) so got a bit of fear/trepidation going on...

see you all later

Arrghhh bike decisions!!! Tron or Tarmac pro with lightweights??? Thinking the Tron will be a good allrounder and lets be honest, a couple of seconds isn't going to make a difference in the grand scheme for me hahaha

Robbo, are you going flat out racing? If so, I might use you as my hill marker 😉

@drac @cougar

Can we close this thread and point to the other one linked further up? Prob best to keep it all to one thread!

How long is the climb and after how long does it kick in.

I genuinely have no idea of how I'm going to approach this race. Id be confident of hanging with all but the very fastest riders on the climb but that's not taking into account I have to beast myself before hand to reach the bottom of it with them.

But once we get to the flat on other side I'll be dropped like a stone

As far as I can see no ideal way to ride this. As such I'm thinking just pick someone I finished close to last time and just ride with then the entire time..so whoever s copping and Jonny Southside are, be prepared to be wheel sucked for a large part of the race.
