You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Following from the recent Dumfries area posts, who fancies this, maybe late September sometime? There seemed a few interested, and Rik is supportive.
Always keen to ride Drumlanrig.
how does Sun 20th September grab folks, or Sun 4th October ?
When are you thinking? I'm away the last weekend....
^^^ posted at same time, aye, was thinking of avoiding 27th as hol weekend
I is interested but can't do Sundays outside the school holidays.
I can do any weekend apart from the last weekend in september too.
I'd be up for that but I'm unreliable so I'll just watch the plan and join if I can, rather than have any effect on the plan then maybe not turn up 😆
Shift worker, watching 😆
I'll be up for it pending childcare issues/shifts tbc. I'm sure it'll be fine if I park at the bridge and cycle up 😉
Ok, looks like could be a go'er, shall we pencil in Sun 20th Sept ?
I am being a plum - paddling a canoe on the royal Dee on the 20th with another forumite... Have a good time everyone...
matt - date still optional for 20th Sept or 4th October - lets see what suits most...
Am interested in this but can't make 20th as I arrive back that day from holiday.
I can make 4th Oct OK if there is a vote
4th suits me better, what about your shifts Trekster? which would suit?.
4th works here.
great, looks like Sun 4th October as a plan then ! Lets keep it rolling and see how the numbers stack up (and the weather in due course:) )
😀
Slippery roots in October. Ace.
Weather? Man up Clow!!!
4th better here too.
excellent, lets go with Sun 4th October. I'll keep thread fresh as time moves on
Was down there for a few hrs today and had a natter with Rik. Also realised that by 4th Oct it will be 'winter season' so free entry for riding ( I have a season pass anyway, but I know how tight some folk can be 😀 )
I want to go back!!! 😥
Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to get a pass out for the day. Also, I think a 450 mile round trip for a bike ride is pushing it a bit 😕
Interested in this... bit of a drive so hopefully not too early a start time!
I never thought you had a problem getting up for Jimmy?
4th Oct looks good to me. Is it OK to bring a 26er or will the bike police throw me in the river?

Working 🙄
Anyone wanting to make a weekend of it could consider this for a bit of fun;

Various other route options but that Enterkin Glen descent is ace 😆 The climb 👿

4th good here, bit o a bump to remind folk.
As I'm only 50/50 for the 4th I thought I'd head down there yesterday for a much needed blast. The trails are running really nicely-must admit not ridden D'lig for a couple of years so started off a tad sketchy but by the end I was loving it, even the 'techy ' climbs. Rik has done a grand job with some of the (new to me) trails and it's a bit of a shame there's not people there in greater numbers.
Word to the wise though, there'll be no tea room open in October so take some lunch with you-Rik says his coffee is great though
a wee bump for this, week on Sunday 🙂
Iain, you know if I didn't live so far away and was in fact just a little bit more recovered I'd join you again at drumlanrig. Enjoy, and here's to our ride next year!
Count me in.
I need an excuse to not attend a 1st birthday party
we'll take some pictures to remind you of the trails 🙂ononeorange - Member

I'd have been keen to come along for this, but in my infinite wisdom I am taking part in a half marathon that day, next time..
I'll be there.
As for no cafe, Thomas tosh in thornhill kicks it's arse anyway!.
I should be there. 🙂
A rough tally suggest :
Me
jimmy ?
nobeer
matt
eat more cheese ?
vmgscot ?
north wind
rich
What time works for folks ? Riding 1030 ?
Sounds fine. Time for a nice hearty brekkie beforehand, I haven't been at drumlanrig this year.
I'm still planning to be there and meet up with you guys.... I won't be fast (or furious)
It's a no from me I'm afraid, wee last minute trip to Morzine instead, well, providing the boys passport turns up in time 🙂
That time works for me. Might bring a couple of people along if i can persuade them to get their arses in gear
Is the black all open now btw? Bombhole and tight rooty switchback after it are smashing.
Was all open a few weeks back nobeer.
Forecast looks fair for Sunday, cool and dry and it hasn't rained for a few days, so trails should be running well.
I'll be there back of 10, silver BMW estate. Hope we get a few turning up. Remember as it's closed season car parking is free but the Cafe will be shut..
I'll be there in the Van at 10 Iain, bring a mug and I'll get a brew going pre-ride.
Still planning to be there...black Vivaro and 456 hardtail
I'm picking George Crocket up from Cambuslang station at 9 so we should be there for just after 10
Blue Leon
Cambuslang? At least it'll make Sanquhar look okay by comparison Richard!. 😆
Not going to make it now, can't get down there til later 🙁 Y'all have fun!
Quick heads up... saw D&G Roads alert that the A76 will be closed at Sanquhar from friday night to monday morning...official diversion is the lengthy one A70 from Cumnock out to M74 and back in on the A702 to Carronbridge!
There's the back road into Drumlanrig from Sanquhar if you come down the A76 but it's not a great road.
From Glasgow area, or south, M74 and A702 as usual should be OK, but I guess not so easy for Ayrshire folks
Hmmm....
That's a bugger of a diversion, and the wee back road VMG mentions is just as bad. Think I may revisit Comrie instead.
Aye, fair enough nobeer, makes it a trek for you. Hopefully others still up for it ?
vmg ?
Rich ?
Anyone else ?
Head down the A713 from Ayr (castle douglas rd), turn off left after carsphairn onto B729 to Moniave rd then onto thornhill , I use this rd all the time to go up to Ayr and back down to mates at moniaive which is only 10mins from thornhill. Takes a couple of minutes longer than coming down the horrible A76 road and is much more scenic and you'll be lucky to encounter any traffic at all.
I was actually just looking at that Soma, great minds!. I'll be there then Iain.
I actually can't find anything to say that the A76 is shut btw, just some roadworks and lights according to Trafficscotland.
🙂
It was a FB post by "Dumfries Galloway Police Division"... resurfacing works south of Sanquhar... assumed it was legit?
I'd love to have made this, unfortunately I have "sh't going down" so won't be there.
Enjoy, take a #jennride pic please.
I've got a signed Mountain Biking Pass from the wife
I will be there!
Pity Jimmy, Long time no see, next time!.
Will try and make this ; i'll be the old git at the back on the Pyga .
Sociable pace Joe!. Well for the first lap anyway.... 😀
Laps ? are we doing the Blue ? 😀
See you in the morning 🙂
Good stuff Matt.
See y'all in a few hrs 😀
That was great, 9 of us out, perfect trail conditions. Great to meet a few new faces 😀
Aye, well worth the long diversion (A few minutes my arse Somafunk!!). Great to see some old and new faces, Just need a dry cold spell in November and we can do that Big Wanlockhead loop.
Just finished the tree clearing I rushed off for...
Great ride, nice to meet to you all. My thumbs hurt - Drumlanrig is a cracking spot, pretty relentless and engaging riding. I like. 😀
Got the maps out now, spotted some decent looking options on the twistfest back over to the A713.
Good to meet you Matt.
Sounds worth a look next month nobeer. Sorry missed you at end, Chris and I decided to do rest of the red.
A few minutes my arse Somafunk!!
😳
It's only 14 odd miles from carsphairn to moniaive, Takes me 20 ish mins (prob coz i know the road really well and a Mk2 Golf is well suited for it 😉 ) and i figure another 8 miles from moniaive to drumlanrig so perhaps 40mins max from carsphairn.
I'm sure you'll be quicker next time 😀
Sounds like you's all had a cracking day, i bet the trail conditions were perfect after all this good weather.
Usually 50 mins to the Drum from Prestwick, 90 today!. It's a lovely drive though, SUW looks worth an explore crossing the road just after Carsphairn, have you ridden it from Dalry to the Sanquhar end at all Soma?
i bet the trail conditions were perfect after all this good weather.
It is October - and I just dusted down the bike to put it away... 8)
The dangers of grabbing the family P&S camera. One of my clan set it too lowest image quality. This on only discovered just now. Images are rubbish, really rubbish. Sorry!
Was all the blue deliberate?
Nice to meet you all and a fun day.. quite different from Kirri .
