Looking for a bit of advice.
I had a heavy landing on Tuesday onto my shoulder, X-rays show a class 1 AC joint injury, clavicle is a bit raised at the joint. I can't get to see the consultant for 2 weeks but I'm keen to start exercising it.
It's only painful in certain positions and certain movements.
Should I wait to see the consultant or start some gentle stuff now?

Ithankyou.

The general advice I've had is don't do anything that hurts.

Grade 1 is the least severe? Maybe see what you can do off this:

It'll likely be sore for a while.

I did mine about 18 months ago (grade 3) and it definitely took a while to feel vaguely normal.

You can exercise it gently, but I'd recommend seeing a physio if you can. You're not going to make it any worse as you've popped the cartilage but it'll hurt.

That's only based on my experience, I'm not a doctor!

i've done both of mine - grade 3's iirc. advice i got from doctors and physios was if you can move it do, if it hurts too much don't. the theory was to get it working and mobile again as soon as possible. worked well for me, got foll rotation back in both and avoided surgery

if you've got a grade 1 injury you've strained the ac ligament rather than severing or detaching any muscle so you'll be fine
