You didnt waste any time getting them up matey. Nice one.

I'll post mine in an hour or two.

Today's ride was brilliant. Great group of people, superb weather, dusty, yes, dusty fast trails and a pub stop half way, plus of course, the obligatory "DeeJay Diversion tm".

Rides don't get any better than today.

Thanks everyone for making it such a cracking day out.

Nice Photies.

Great day out, in the usual nice weather, with nice mountainbikers.

What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday.

and we even managed to slip a swift pint in before going home.

Cheers everyone.

Thanks for the cakes MrsF and Johnny

Just came on to say thanks for a really excellent day out. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

You're right Lowey, rides don't get any better than today.

Liked the pineapple upsidedown cake Johnny, that was top.

My mojo has indeed returned with a vengance. 😀

Mrs flash gets the prize for being the most technically gifted person today by virtue of being the only person to clear the water crossing, unlike myself who got nice cool water running down the inside of my sock's. And again thanks to mrs flash and johnny for the cakes and deejay and co for the brew and everyone else for making it a great day. 🙂

Aye, cracking ride and some good pics. Weather was brilliant, overcast so not too hot for all that climbing in the morning then the sun came out in time for the pub stop. And that downhill, I think someone said it was Long Lane, speedy-tastic! I'm sorry I didn't stay to sample all the cakes 🙂 but the apple cake was gorgeous - and my wife had made pineapple upside down cake when I got home, mmmm.

If, as taka said, you had a 90 minute stop at the pub in Littondale you must have been motoring round!

they didnt stop for 90mins me and my brother had to drop out because the food didnt come for 90mins so we would have been screwed if we were carrying on with the ride annnnnd you had to pay before you got the food so no walking away before it comes :p

I do feel on reflection that the chocolate and banana cake could have been better. It was a little dry, a bit overcooked I think. Will do better next time.

Fantastic first forum ride, cracking weather, route and company.

My brothers first job when we got back (after a beer) was ordering replacement wheels from Merlin. Rear hub had almost seized by the time we got back to the car park 😯

I don't think you need to worry too much about the quality of the cakes after a ride. Quantity is more important :o) Clare very kindly gave me the last slice and for the life of me I cannot recall the flavour, apart from it being very welcome 🙂

That moist cake with some sort of fruit on the top was belting Clare. Its the one in the middle.

Doffs cap to the cake makers!

That was Dorset Apple cake, I could tell you the recipe, but then I'd have to kill you. (that was the one you had SFB)

I think I may be spared killage as "recipes" are an unknown to me. I have mastered heating without burning (often), and that's enough like cooking for me :o)

pah, pah and tripple PAH!

only saw the post about the ride last on Friday - too short notice to make arrangements - and, TBH, fitness still such that i'd probably only just be finishing 😳

Tomorrow commuting to work and back returns - had too much fun on the first Dales ride to miss another....

I expect you can find us something exciting - the NYM riding I've done has been rather bland - probably due to ignorance and lack of local knowledge.

Hi All,

the broken chain boys got back fine. It wasn't the broken chain that made us turn back it was my mate on the Norco (2x chain snap) whose fitness let him down. I was totally gutted, but he didnt know his way back on his own.

Thanks for the loan of the shoes. Thanks to the chap that helped him fix his chain twice and thanks for all the lovely pictures of the ride after we left the group

Think i will leave him at home next time until his fitness is at a decent level. Ive got some training rides planned for him so hopefully he will complete the ride next time

Lowey: I was watching you lot from the gate by the ford just north of Street Gate. You'd missed the right turn for some reason and were coming back. Hope you turned round before Middle House, the farmer isn't known for welcoming mtbers.
I'd met the Bogtrotters higher up and SFB told me to look out for a big group. Until I turned round at the gate I wondered where 30 odd riders could be hiding 😕

har-har :o) [I once did that too]

BTW, were the toilets in the car park as stinky as ever ? I had the misfortune to go in there once and for all the indestructible stainless steel fittings it reeked of piss 🙁

Pulled out and went where, they were as far to ride to the car as anywhere! The bike was back at home when I got there. It's a good job we were alone then - set off from home 1pm, 69km, 6000ft climbing, less than 15Km on road, less than 6 hours

🙂

Ah young lads, fast furious ....

more like dehydrated! The one I saw was only carrying a small pouch of less than 500mL capacity, which didn't appear to contain anything heavy...

Dave, do you have an updated route (without DeeJay's diversion) ??

How do you mean ? The total distance we did ?

The guys only really went quarter of a mile past the Bridleway so it was nothing really.

no, a map of where you actually went - ideally big enough to see the details - which was different to what you originally posted I think ?

I can send you the updated MMO file if you like ? But basically you will know it inside out.

From Arncliffe Cote we took the road to Litton, Ford, Spittle Croft, Cow Close, road to Rainscar, Dale Head, Churn Milk Hole, Long Lane, Helwith Bridge, Bark Houses, Fiezor, Giggleswick Scar, and then road back to Settle and the cake.

I should have known better after seeing the shot of Clare getting the ford on Dawson Close 🙂
