I’ve got a Sturmey Three on my town bike and I managed to crunch the gears, breaking a widget inside so it would only get two gears.
While SJS Cycles has the bits, I can’t find any shops who will do the fixing. I’m sure it’s a simple job, as even I can get it apart - it’s the getting it back without leaving any spares left that I’m worried about.

Anyone know a top UK Sturmey mechanic?

There are YouTube videos which show a teardown and service, would they be any help?

What on earth did you do to it?  SA 3sps are usually indestructible.  I have one that is over 60 years old.  Or are the modern ones not as good?

I’d try Stanley Fearns in Matlock, I’m pretty sure they could sort it, three very experienced mechanics, plus the owner and two previous mechanics that live locally who are even more experienced. Probably shut until Tuesday though and best to ring them! Hope this helps.

You'll be OK with it. Just take plenty of pictures as you disassemble and lay bits out in the order they are removed.

Give us a call at The Cycle Division (01484 665055) where we can talk you through what you need/how to do your own repair, or we can give you the number of a shop that will service it for you. We're very helpful, and only over in Huddersfield.

@thesanityassassin - I will do. I might even turn up with a wheel, if you're not careful 🙂

I fixed one years ago, lovely thing despite the oily water sloshing around inside. Usual rule of take things off, lay down in order and all the same orientation (always drive side down for me).

Good to know people are still doing spares and servicing.
