if i have 2 x 500 lumen lights on my bars will the intensity of the light be equal to 1000 lumens, or does it not work like that ???
On the surface - yes that is a stupid Q 😉 (two 500's is 1000 lumens) but in reality 1000 does not "seem" twice as bright as 500 to your eye (or minds eye). I don't know why.
ok stupid question 2.... approx how many lumens under 1000 does the light image appear to be? i know light is a complicated subject!
2 x 500 lumen lights will look as bright as one 1000 lumen light. However a 1000 lumen will not look twice as bright as a 500!
Your eyes do not respond in a linear manner to light - as light levels increase the sensitivity decreases - other wise we would be either blinded in daylight or unable to see in twilight
I can't give a definitive answer for whatever light you'rte hinking of (beam pattern etc) but I used to use dx torches and two of them on the bars appeared about 50% brighter than just one. My lightmeters (we use em at work) said 2 is 100% brighter. probably the most noticeable difference is pointing them in different directions for a bigger spread
