Went out today for a ride.... Every pedal stroke from about 1 mile into the ride i got a clicky noise when pushing hardish, soft it was fine. Stayed with me all the ride.
So i'm sitting thinking "Bottom bracket or Pedals"
Came back and swapped the pedals... silent... perfect.
Took the pedals apart but saw nothing untoward, clean, greased, bearings look ok.
So i thought "just to make sure"... i then put the pedals back on.... still silent LOL..
So now i don't actually know what the issue was.... i guess we'll find out next time out but i've tested it on 3-4 short loops, flat, hard, hill, etc... silent.

I had this once..... turned out the end of my shoe lace was metal to stop it unravelling and was hitting the crank.
LOl - I had that thing with the metal aglet too, drove me nuts until I figured it out. Was on a pair of Teva shoes.
hahahahaha yup, i've had that 🙂

Mine too! Teva pinners!
My roadie started doing the clicky thing yesterday, but when I turned for home I was pedalling into the wind so couldn't really hear it any more. Small mercies. Going out again later and day off tomorrow so expect I'll end up dismantling half the drivetrain in an attempt to find it. BOA shoes though, so I can discount the laces 🙂
Try greasing your seat post, had this numerous times in the past, drove me nuts...Seat post.
I once spent two hours greasing stuff to try to solve a weird click I got at the same point on every pedal rotation. Next time out, on a sunny day, wonderfully silent. A few months later, once winter was here, back it came. Stripped and regreased as before, to no avail.
Eventually I noticed that the hem of my waterproof shorts was catching on a tiny bit of loose invisiframe tape on my toptube.

Tried multiple posts and was getting it when standing up too today...

Ah the well worn routine of trying to isolate the noise - standing up pedalling, coasting while bouncing (damned noisy freehubs make this one even harder), pedalling one footed on each side, using big gear vs little gear to check if its related to effort, ligtt force on front brake then back brake to see if its the pads rattling - there must be more?
I've had this exact sound happen numerous times over the last few years. In the past it has been:
*Slightly loose chainring bolt.
*Headset top cap bottoming out on the stem, so not fully preloaded.
*Seatpost to saddle clamp not torqued to spec.
*And most recently, not enough grease on the dropper post. It clicked even when standing and pedalling.
