I find my Monarch gets very hot on the downs and starts feeling a bit wooden - anyone swapped to a piggy back shock and what are your thoughts?
DVO Topaz seems to be popular choice along with RS Monarch RCT3 plus but finding not much in the way of coherent reviews

I have a Fox CTD sitting in a drawer that may fit your bike - it's from a 2014 frame. In need of a service as it makes a squishy sound, but I don't want much for it...
Thanks pal but it's really a piggyback I'm leaning towards
Anyone else?
Ive fitted a Monarch plus RC3 to my 2016 Stumpjumper to replace the original Fox float CTD. Changed for the same reason as you it sounds, my float gave up on me down a few runs and decided to get the Monarch with the piggyback reservoir.
Was deffinitly worth the upgrade, shock feels good but i think it could do with a few bands added into the can for the bigger hits it takes on big days. I like the sound of DVO's gear though and if i was you would be intrigued of going in that direction..
I think it's worth a go - but an expensive test - I was looking at Starbike, the Topaz is only (?) £357 but never heard of Stabike before
coil it and forget about temps
I bought some DT Swiss rims from Starbike after someone linked them on here. Paid fine and the rims turned up pretty quickly considering they came from Germany. Can’t comment on returns etc as the rims were fine and just building them up in the coming week.
DVO Topaz turned up from Starbike in a week, very well packaged, good service - happy at £80 less than anywhere in UK
Fit a bike yoke and use a coil shock, or get a TTX Coil with the spesh end fitting.
