My monarch shock is half stuck down, as displayed on the Bossnut thread. Evidently some extra air has got into the negative side, presumably when I went out riding in the snow the other week.
Question one, as I'm waiting for the frame to be replaced in the next couple of months anyway, is it safe to ride on?
Question two, if it's not, is there likely to be any damage to the seals etc if I just pop the air can off whilst the shock stays in situ on the bike? I'll wrap/tie rags and towels around the shaft to stop the can flying down and destroying itself on the mounting.
If it is sucked down will your pedals not be quite low and bang into stuff if you ride it as it is?
I would send the shock back under warranty via the shop. Alternatively it is a DIY strip, clean, regrease and rebuild making sure all the seals and rings are located properly, especially the quad seal.
