which tyre and rim combo - always found my Stans flow fit well with Maxxis and schwalbe but my WTB i23 have always been a pain in the arse. As I run tubeless found warm soapy water works, along with Pedros tyre levers.

S'funny that.

I bought :

Tyres Panracer Gravel King 700 x 28, tubed.

Tyres were so frigging tight I had to resort to workshop tool:

I'm going to be completely stuffed if the p------e fairy visits when I am out!

I had real problems with Panaracer Gravel Kings unless I focused heavily on keeping them in the  centre 'well' while using the tyre levers on the other side.  When using tubes it seems to be also helpful if counter intuitive to inflate them slightly as that seems to push them out of the well and let the tyre get in there instead

Try an adhesive rim tape, I found a cheapo plastic one stopped the tyre dropping into the Centre well.

TBH I never install them what I think [ and i run tubeless] is that if i cannot get it on what chance have i got of fixing a puncture /issue out on the trail in the dark or cold etc

IMHO its just not worth it

Finish at the valve - it makes a difference.

You can plug a puncture pretty quick with the kits - agree that an un-removable tyre wouldn't be my choice, but you'd be OK with a puncture short of a sidewall gash.
