[Closed] struggling to bleed a reverb, any tips?

Bled mine last night after fitting a new cable.

Used the bleed kit, even glanced at the instructions, but didn't get it as good as it was pre cable change.

On full speed it operates slowly. On slow speed it doesn't operate.

I guess there is still air trapped.

Anyone have the same issue and overcome it? Going to try again tonight.

Watched the Sram guide on YouTube? Following that was enough for mine

Edit: and have you checked the air pressure?

no I haven't watched that, will do that tonight.

Yes I checked the pressure and it seems ok. I did let all the air out at one point, because the seat post was locked down. But I refilled to 250psi.

I had problems after replacing the hose and barbs following a breakage.
Turned out that I hadn't wound the barb into the hose far enough at the seat end and it was weeping slightly when activated, then presumably allowing air into the system upon "return".
Hard to spot because the replacement seat barb is shrouded for protection.
Once I'd wound it in a bit tighter and re-bled, it was fine.
The actual bleed itself is very staightforward and hard to get wrong.

actually that might be happening with mine, I bled it good and proper and it seemed to start off ok and get progressively worse. So A small leak would make sense.

Agreed. Exactly the same symptoms. First actuation reasonably good, then deteriorating rapidly thereafter.
Easily sorted.
Turned out the hose needed to be threaded quite a bit further onto the barb.
The "stop" point at the end of the thread was quite noticable in the end.

nearly all the problems with reverbs and avid brakes come from poor bleeding.
just take the time to do it properly and both are bulletproof.

Last bleed should be done with the speed adjuster wound all the way out (slowest speed) otherwise it will be slow to return.

bled it again last night, tightened the fittings, made more of an effort looking for stubborn bubbles, hey presto, its fine. Cheers.

Yes Pook, the bleed kit is just 2 syringes to cycle fluid through the system a few times and as per dirtydogs reminder, the last bit is done with the speed adjuster wound all the way out.

...therein lies the problems of Avid brakes.
