I recently heard that Nitromores formula had been toned/watered-down?
Any tips etc for stripping powdercoat without having to go to the sprayers to have it shotblasted then go through the added time to reclean all the threads? With driving/drop/collect/cost and chasing threads it'd probably work out easier to do it myself.
(Rear triangle only). I'm happy with the front but feel the colour on the rear doesn't look right..
New Nitromors didn't work for me
I've read of caustic soda working but I'm terrified of it!
Blowtorch and a wire brush.
Chemical strip is the best way and safest for the frame.
I used to spend hours sanding but not any-more.
The chemical strippers local to me charge £10 for a frame and it normally takes a day or two. It then only needs a quick once over with a scotchbrite pad.
I could just hang 100 cable outers in proximity to the swing arm 😀
Soaking it in Acetone usually works on powder coating.
Reasonably cheap too so might be worth a try.
Used it last year on some diecast alloy Thule roofbar fittings that I modded to fit my Gfs old car, worked a treat.
Cheers, Scruff
PS use safety glasses/goggles when handling. You DO NOT want acetone in your eyes. Gloves/apron probably a good idea too.
Cheers I'll give it a test whirl on one section first: http://groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/Morrisons-Nail-Polish-Remover-Acetone-Free/270425011?prevPageIndex=0

I was under the impression that Santa Cruz used nail polish to paint all their bikes.
p.s. Acetone free doesn't mean you get free acetone with every bottle 😆
I'd be tempted just to paint over the powdercoat. Cheaper, and you still have the protection of the coating?
😆 good point. Will nick a little bottle of mrshora's

Have you contacted local powder coaters and asked them if they can dip it? Usually costs £25, you get a better finnish and it's going to be much less work.
