Got a versa 8 thats a baggy- and only shifts if you put fore aft tension on it then flick it to the right.

Feels like it needs tightening or shimming to prevent foreaft movement. No obvious way to do it- but thats never stoped me before 🙂

Before i ping important bits all over the garage - any one done it and more so anyone been successful ?

Hmm. Nope, sorry, they don't look fun much to work on do they? I do have a surplus nearly-new one lurking in a box somewhere though so if you kill yours or fail to fix it drop me an email and I'm sure I can sort you out. 🙂

follow up .

ITs actually not as hard as it looks at first glance.

remove the cables ,

remove the shifter from the bars

cable tie it open.

There are 2 silver screws on the outside - about 7mm long - remove them

There are 2 black ones in the middle - about 5mm long - remove them

there is 1 silver screw at the top deep in that holds the top cap in place.

theres a 4mm hex key bolt in the middle that holds the brake lever on - undo that.

and it will come apart - pay attention take photos....

What i found was causing my issue was theres a little spring loaded pawl on the back of the shifter lever - mines was stuck in the open position rusty etc

Got it free'd off and lubed up put in a good chunk of grease - put it back together in reverse and it works like new
