Long ride yesterday was ruined owing to some really ill fitting restrictive shorts I've just bought (they felt OK when I tried them on) - I'll never ride in them again - I'm on the lookout for super stretchy / ultra comfortable options - Any noteworthy recommendations folks?

Aye, any of the Madison soft shell shorts. Madison is my go to for clothes now, their warranty is fantastic too.

TLD Skyline or Royal Turbulence (2015 onwards) are both pretty stretchy.

Norrona soft shell jobs. Eye watering expense. But extremely comfy, stay in place, and look good as new after 3 years.

Sombrio softshells or Troy Lees. Both have the added bonus of being pretty much unwreckable too

Yes, TLD Skylines are good - if you're interested I have some unused large Skylines in green that I've been meaning to list (too large for me).

I find it really difficult to get a snug but non restrictive fit - probably not the coolest thing but sweat shorts work great for me - trouble being that it's difficult to find fully synthetic ..
