Possibly dumb question; or possibly asking the impossible.
I want to be able to see my starred segments on my phone on a map (along with the blue dot that represents my location) while I'm out riding.
I use a Garmin 520 to record the ride, but would like to be able to pull my phone out to navigate my way to the start of a pre-found segment.
Otherwise can this be done on Garmin directly
(and without paying for Strava Premium)
Can it be done?
If you can get the segments into Garmin segments maybe that would do it. If you're lucky the ones you want might already be on Garmin, but unlikely.
Though segments on a Garmin are getting on my tits. Every time I'm near one it goes into segment mode even if I don't do that trail, and then it keeps getting stuck in that mode and saying I'm near the segment, or off course, or just goes into a default 'heading XXX', but won't drop back to the main stats page. I'm going to delete the segments I think.
Perhaps better is to convert the segments into courses or something. Don't know how to do that.
Also I can't work out Garmin Connect UI now. I can't see the segments I'd already added, but they're synced to the device.
Try recording the ride on your phone at the same time and put some headphones in, I'm sure it used to beep at you when you did a starred segment. Then just discard it when finished and upload your Garmin route to strava.
Unsure if you need Strava Summit to see starred segments on a Garmin so maybe not...just checked and it needs Summit now.
