I dont get ANY segments showing up on the Explore feature on a Desktop.

Try through the Strava route builder, works for me.
Or better yet, try https://www.doogal.co.uk/strava.php and use the filters to narrow down your search.
Working for me, if a bit slow, on Chrome on iMac.
pretty rubbish even when it does work.
I came here to post what n0b0dy0ftheg0at did. Trailforks mapping can also overlay strava, but the doogal thing is often better.

the trailforks strava layer is playing up at the moment. The whole mapping system is moving over to mapbox rather than google so everything is having to be reimplemented. hopefully it will be up and running again soon
