It seems that everytime I try to record a ride in Strava, I set it going and pop it in my pocket, only to find later that it says "Strava has recovered from a serious error and has resumed recording".
If I uninstall And reinstall, it works for 5he first ride, and then never again.
Any ideas what's going on? Or suggestions for alternative software for ride logging?
Ulefone armour x6 on android 10, I think. Ta!

cheap garmin watch? they're 50 quid on ebay
I use Strava on my phone (android 10 too) all the time. Only had that happen a few times, I think it was when the rubber handle bar mount I use was accidentally pressing the up volume button constantly and my phone freaked out.
You'll need to change your phone power management settings so it doesn't shut the app down when it thinks you're not using it.

Thanks for the GPS info, will try some of that but I don't think that's the problem.
I can set it running on a table, leave it for as couple of min, then it'll have had the error just sat there. I'll have a look at power management apps (I think there's one pre-installed) though.
Cheers

I think the best idea is to just go out and rude your bike.
Someone got arrested and convicted for that!
As for Strava, I record on a watch, and sync that to Strava etc.
Didn't realise the app still creshed. It used to be horrendous a few years and 2 phones ago for me which was half the reason I abandoned it.
My phone is a bit patchy for Strava so I now use an Amazfit watch to track rides which can be had for under £50, adds heart rate, syncs with Strava and vibrates and phone calls and messages which is handy too.
As much as having a phone that can do the recording via the app is handy as it means less kit to buy and use, the phone isn't that accurate and does tend to eat battery power (probably not an issue for people who recharge their phone/electric goods on a daily basis).
I had thought a few updates previously had the crashing issue with Strava resolved, but sounds like it isn't quite gone. As mentioned, check power management on the phone and make sure the GPS and Strava don't go into power saving mode. If the phone is using gps, then perhaps trying it in the house without a clear view of the skiy is meaning your GPS isn't picking anything up and causing Strava to crash...
Can you stick it outside for 10 minutes and see if it improves things? If so, then might need to find a higher point on your body/bike storage to get the phone higher up and more visible to the sky.
Alternatively (and the more favoured way) is to get a GPS unit and use that instead of your phone - watches work well, but you can get cheaper GPS bike units that mount to the bike and have bluetooth that can then sync with your phone and send the ride data to Strava - it does mean buying a new piece of technology though.
