You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Current first place on the leaderboard is from the UK with 102,765 metres of climbing. When you look at their profile for June there is only 30,000 ish feet of climbing.
Second place person is on 102,443 metres of climbing and their profile shows 336,000 ish feet of climbing which seems about right.
Something doesnt look right to me - what am I missing?
I saw that the other day, odd isnt it. I'm currently regretting a ride that didnt record so 500m short and cant be arsed going out today..
Virtual rides? Private rides?
Isn't there something that counts ALL rides towards the challenge but, through their profile, will only show you actual real-world (non-trainer) and/or public rides?
Even manual entries count at the mo, along with turbo rides, I'd guess that ~50% of my ~11.5Km was turbo sessions at the start of the month.
I did this challenge in May and was quite happy with my 9500m or so effort come the finish, I looked at the leaderboard after about 3 days and someone had done about 45,000 metres! just look liked a flaw in the system to me. They had done more climbing in 3 days that I would in a 6 months or more.
I tend to assume the top leaderboards are junk.
Especially for the distance challenges when you look at their activities they’re usually garbage, like 19 hour rides at 100kph average or a few minutes at 995kph as in two recent examples.
Things like the gran fondo boards are quite fun though. Given that this month there’s 1.3 million signed up and it’s 100k to complete the difference in ranking between doing 100k plus a few metres and say 101km is massive, 10,000s of riders stagger over the 100k then stop!

It's interesting watching the Festive 500 leaderboard - there always seems to be a competition to be the first to post a ride and the first to post the full 500. There's always some nutter in the southern hemisphere who's completed it in one ride by about 3pm on Christmas Eve having set off at 00:01
Quite often the "leader" is there because of some anomaly in the recording. I looked at one and the guy had done about five rides of 10km but had 250,000m of climbing! A look at one of his rides showed why - his commute was alongside the Rhine so should have had a few tens of metres of ascent, stuck in the middle of this ride was a spike. a very, very, very big spike, 250,000m in a distance of maybe 50m! Complete garbage.
