All this year at least my strava hasn’t worked once properly. As an example, I went out today and it recorded a time of 50 minutes, a distance of 46.88 miles and an average speed of 55.9 mph. Now there was quite a strong wind but....tried uninstalling etc..
Anyone got any ideas ? Got a Samsung note 8 phone

Where do you have your phone when riding? The human body is a really good attenuator and can easily block the signal. As can wet leaves on trees. What does your track on Strava look like?

As has been mentioned it's probably your recording device, try borrowing another device 7 use both at the same time, see if that makes a difference.
I always record via my Garmin, never had any problem.
I'm sure if the problem was at Strava lots of others would be complaining...

As above, strava uses your phone's GPS.

It's not strava.

Their are a few segments round here that are just not picked up by Strava on most phones, but are 99% of the time on my Garmin watch.

Check any power saving features on the phone. ie make sure you disable "battery optimisation" for the Strava app.

I gave up on Strava on Xperia XZ1.
Similar to you, after Strava update, it started going bonkers either over recording or switching off. I followed eldest_oab down a local trail, he is way faster, yet it gave me 20sec quicker!

The gps in a phone is probably more accurate than a garmin watch. Mainly as the phone has more space for an Aerial.

Getting the phone a view of the sky really helps. So top pocket of hydration pack is perfect. Pockets in cloths less so. My phone a lowley Galaxy A50 has only put a gap in one ride. Due to poor positioning of the phone. None of my other phones, all cheap, has ever let me down

It could be a software thing. Have you tried logging in a different App? You can run several at once. That might help isolate the problem

Ive got an iPhone, Strava doesn’t like it when it’s in the side pockets of my shorts, it’s fine in a rear jersey pocket or in my camelbak.

A friend had this. Turn the power saving and or sleep mode off when using Strava. It fixed it for her.

Thanks guys. Will try my wife’s exact same phone tomorrow with my strava installed on that and see if it’s better. But will try the power saving option on mine too. Time to get the manual out I guess 😏
