strava - editing a route... slightly

So I have created a route from a ride all in strava - great.

I know want to tweak it a bit. If I move one waypoint subtlely or try & insert waypoints on the existing route then the whole of the routs changes. I only want to tweak one part.

My only solution so far which works fine is export & import in to komoot, edit there.

Any ideas on the solution to doing this in Strava or is Strava route planning just crap ?

Try putting it in manual mode perhaps?

If you're using the desktop version you should be able to left click the existing route and click 'Insert Waypoint'. If you do this at two points (before diversion and after diversion) you should then be able to drag the bit in between without it affecting the rest.

This is a quirk of having saved a route from elsewhere, e.g. someone else's route or just saving one of your rides as a route.

As soon as you try to edit, Strava will apply it's own logic to adjacent parts of the route also, changing everything 😖

Only solution I've found is to plot the whole thing again using my own waypoints rather than saving the route from elsewhere. Not very helpful I know...

Cheers 13...

Tried the other ideas but what 13 describes is what happened. Looks like it's a win for komoot.

Let's hope my komoot access stays the same.

Doesn't komoot do something similar? I have a vague recollection of a video where someone reversed the direction of the Lakeland 200 but it decided to re-route him directly up some horrendous off-route paths (and the LL200 is bad enough in the first place)

Yeah but Komoot has an option now to 'Stick to original route' which should prevent that happening.

In truth though with either platform I've experienced issues with importing or reversing routes, especially anything that has required manual plotting.

Also I've recently been breaking Strava while plotting longer routes and individual waypoints sort of drop in to some sort of wormhole and reappear in Denmark adding ~1000km to the route 😂
